I'm not sure if this is anti-climactic or what.
Weinke, (6-4, 232), spent six seasons with the Carolina Panthers after joining the team as a fourth-round draft pick out of Florida State in 2001. Weinke compiled a 32-3 record during his collegiate career and earned the Heisman Trophy and the Davey O'Brien Award as a senior in 2000...
Weinke's immediately was inserted into the starting lineup as a rookie and finished second in NFL history with 2,931 passing yards by a rookie, trailing only Peyton Manning of Indianapolis who threw for 3,793 yards in 1998.
Doesn't Chris Weinke just seem like a younger Dilfer? I actually just checked out their profiles at ESPN and Chris Weinke is only 4.5 months younger than Dilfer. The difference between the two? Trent Dilfer has appeared in 131 games over 14 years and thrown for over 20,000 yards. Chris Weinke has appeared in 27 games over 7 seasons and thrown for 3,800 yards. Well, hopefully this just means Shaun Hill will be our guy the rest of the season.
