Want to know what's wrong with the NFL?

[EDITOR'S NOTE]Thanks to nostocksjustbonds for posting this diary. My personal opinion is that if the league wants to fine him over this that's fine. HOWEVER, I take issue with the dollar amount. Withleather.com made a good point about it this morning:

• Cowboys WR Terrell Owens was fined $35,000 for spitting on Falcon CB DeAngelo Hall during a Week 15 game last season.

• Oakland’s Tyler Brayton and Seattle’s Jerramy Stevens scuffled in 2006 when the Raiders and Seahawks met in a Monday night game. Brayton was fined $25,000, Stevens $15,000.

• When linebacker Joey Porter used a gay slur to insult Cleveland tight end Kellen Winslow last season, the league fined him $10,000.

Ask Brian Urlacher.

NEW YORK -- Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was fined $100,000 by the NFL for wearing a cap during Super Bowl media day that promoted a sponsor not authorized by the league.

Urlacher is out $100,000 for wearing this hat, which promotes a sponsor not authorized by the league.

NFL rules prohibit gear that advertises any product but a designated sponsor, league spokesman Brian McCarthy said Wednesday.

Urlacher was fined for drinking vitaminwater and wearing a vitaminwater hat during the media session in Miami leading to the title game. Gatorade is the NFL's official drink.

He was fined for drinking the wrong water and wearing the wrong hat. I repeat. He was fined for drinking the wrong water and wearing the wrong hat...during a press conference. 4 months later, mind you. It's not like he took the field wearing a 49ers helmet or was swigging down Jack Daniels on the sidelines.

The NFL doesn't care about the players. It doesn't care about the fans. It cares about money. Period. Remember that next time the NFL has some "we love everybody" commercial on.
