Chances getting better......

Many of you can tell from my posts that I am an admirer of Rice and think he can be great but he is a second round pick.  I see a lot of bickering going on about Branch or Carriker.  Today the Vikings signed Mike Doss to a one year deal, which makes LaRon Landry look a lot more realistic.  Granted Doss plays SS but they already have Sharper (veteran of that secondary who has to start) and Greg Blue (1st team SEC in his day) at SS.  Dwight Smith is there FS which although he's not bad they could move sharper to FS and let doss and blue fight it out.  Either way I think they already have too much invested in safety.

LaRon Landry would complete our secondary.  This kid is a huge stud.  I would love to see him back there with Lewis and them just guessing which one is going to bring the heat.  Clements could play a lot of straight man, Spencer could get help from a safety as needed and that leave the other safety (Lewis or Landry) free to go eat the QB's lunch.

My problem with Carriker is he's a DE.  In a 3-4 they sit there and take up space with their fat selves.  DT does the same although a DT as big as branch is not easy to come by but we can get one later (next year or this one) bc we have a good rotation there now and could get Soliai or Louis Leonard later.  I have no problem with taking Willis bc a 3-4 needs good LBs to work.  There are other BIG DEs.  Abiamiri, Alama-Francis, Atkins, Moore, and Pittman.  Get one of them later to set their fat bodies on the tackle and free up LBs.  The greatest situation would be the Vikings taking Ginn or Jarrett with their first round to prevent them from taking away a WR in the second round right before us.

Landry would still have to slip by the falcons and Dolphins but its is possible.  What does everyone think about Landry and if he fell would u still take Willis, Branch, or Carriker?

I've said it before...
... and I'll say it again.  Out of all of the "possible" players that could still be there at #11, Landry would be my first choice.  By possible, I'm ignoring Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson (naturally), and other unnecessaries (i.e. Quinn, Russell, Peterson, etc).

Landry could make as big an impact (if not more) than Willis could.  It's just that he probably will not be available.  Even though we're relatively deep at safety, a guy like Landry (who would kind of become Nolan's new Ed Reed) would solidify that secondary.  This would buy the front seven a little more time to cover their zone/man (underneath) and get to the QB.

AP Mock
Supposedly, at least.  I don't know if this was a serious attempt at a mock, or if it was a cynical article written to just point out that there are no "experts" in the field of draft predictions.

In any case, Landry drops past us, according to this.  Blasphemy, I say.  Though Willis wouldn't be a bad pick either.

he doesn't just drop
he plummets all the way to da Boys at 22. NO WAY IN HELL does that happen. He's a top 10 talent, a difference maker, a stud. He's ready to start right now in the NFL. Mock is right. that draft is useless.
Bring back Eddie D.
