Eagles release Trotter

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Aj2XWsK_5yc2AhbPjFgU_Wg5nYcB?slug=ap-eagles-trotter&prov=a p&type=lgns

Middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter was released by the Eagles on Tuesday, a surprising end to the Pro Bowl player's second stint with Philadelphia.

I was kinda surprised by this, but i hear his knees are bone to bone, and he sucks in coverage, would anyone here want this guy on our team?

Personally i dont, i think we got a good young core and his coverage skills dont make him worth it.

Thoughts?

linebacker
Personally, I think linebacker is a position of strength for us relatively speaking.  We've got a lot of young guys with plenty to learn, but they've got a ton of upside.  Throw in a veteran like Derek Smith to provide some leadership and that's a position with which I'm quite comfortable.

That's a nice plus this year, is while some units may not be outstanding, they all have considerable depth (minus running back for now).

Runner Stopper
Trotter was a run stopper, pure and simple.  The Eagles struggled to stop the run when he left and that's why they brought him back.  He netted 100+ tackles last year which is still pretty impressive.  I think he was considering retirement during the offseason but I could see someone that needs some rush defense help picking him up.  But's he's definately not a 3-4 ILB.
