Week 6 Prediction Games - If you forgot to pick any of the games, you can always just predict the later ones to get any points you can.  If you miss all of today's you can just pick MNF if you want.

Injuries
49ers: Probable - SS Michael Lewis; Questionable - LB Roderick Green; Doubtful - LB Manny Lawson; Out - CB Shawntae Spencer, OT Jonas Jennings

Eagles: Probable - DE Victor Abiamiri, S Quintin Demps, DE Darren Howard, RB Dan Klecko, QB Donovan McNabb, TE L.J. Smith; Questionable - WR Kevin Curtis, DE Juqua Parker; Out - G Shawn Andrews, S J.R. Reed, RB Brian Westbrook, WR Reggie Brown

Inactives
49ers: QB Jamie Martin, CB Reggie Smith, CB Shawntae Spencer, LB Roderick Green, LB Ahmad Brooks, C Cody Wallace, T Jonas Jennings, LB Manny Lawson.

Eagles: QB A.J. Feeley, S J.R. Reed, RB Brian Westbrook, DE Bryan Smith, G Shawn Andrews, G Mike McGlynn, WR Kevin Curtis, WR Reggie Brown.

And so we reach another important game for the 49ers.  It doesn't get any easier in the coming weeks, so holding serve at home would be huge.  Who cares if it ends up an ugly win...just get a win.

3-2

I hope there’s absolutely no more scoring in the Detroit – Minnesota game. A 3-2 finish would be really awesome.

I am an idiot

In my non-NN fantasy league I have Peyton and Cutler. Peyton has sucked so far. Cutler has been good. On ESPN they have fantasy rankings each week. Everyone said that Cutler was a better play than Manning. Manning has 3 TD passes already. I benched him.

manning

In one of my non-NN leagues I have Manning and Garrard. Sometimes I’m tempted by Garrard but Manning is just too capable of blowing up. Of course I’m 2-3 thanks to his less than stellar performances to date.

I dunno

I’m not sure it can even work that way. I guess you would be betting 1001 after I bet 1000 if you think everyone else was under… at least in terms of the point differential. Or something. I don’t know, we both picked the same point total.

I wish Alex Smith was still the QB

But, it’s for selfish reasons. I live in Utah, and during his tenure as QB they showed almost every Niners game on TV here. Now, I have to watch “good” teams play. I’m sorry, but a bad Niners game is still more fun than a good Cowboys one.

Nolyn is losing it

He missed a challenge earlier in the game, then he throws the flag on an obvious catch. And I hate the call to pitch to Foster on 3rd and 1. Pound it up the middle.

Two questions:

1.) Didn’t the guy look at the price list before he ordered?

2.) Isn’t a cup of coffee a better investment than Wall Street these days? You get a cup of coffee and then you get a cup to beg with.

Last year

the cover story was that the defense was getting worn out because the offense was so bad.

This year I think Nolan’s defense, both strategy and personnel decisions, is being exposed. They come out on the field playing prevent. The big sub is just a reflection of Nolan’s conservative coaching style. And if you’re going to call a conservative game, you can’t make stupid mistakes. Nolan blew the game management once again this first half, between challenging and not challenging plays, and his timeout use was terrible.

Adopted Son: Brad Hennessey. Beloved for a stolen base much like Dave Roberts

Takeo Spikes = best FA acquisition this season??

Don't forget no.88

it’s close, though
Both were steals

definitely

I wasn’t too excited about either of the two when we signed them but damn they proved me wrong

yea

I really like the Takeo and Smith aquisitions but Bruce and Rossum have proved me wrong

by sam23 on Oct 12, 2008 3:35 PM PDT up reply actions

yea

but Smith, Bruce, and Rossum have been very good too. Good FA spending this offseason.

forgot

about Rossum occassionally giving us sweet field position

Justin Smith

Been very solid.

How perfect

is Takeo next to PWilly? If we could get a legit pass rushing OLB to throw into the mix with Lawson and Haralson we’d have the best LB group in the league.

Justin made that play by reading the screen perfectly

and forcing McNabb to look to the middle and the resulting TS Int.

smith

I noticed him sliding over to cover the running back…good call

actually, it wasn't a screen

And I don’t think McNabb was looking that way, anyway.
But Smith did drop back to take that option away.

red zone turnovers

they don’t mean anything if the offense doesn’t move the ball

…also on that big buckhalter run, willis was blocked by jason avant, just saying

Spikes and Smith combo

because...

a touchdown a yard inside the endzone doesn’t count for as much as a touchdown in the back of the endzone. Obviously.

Good pass by McNabb

Now the question is whether the Niners can drive the field for a TD.

by Bob In Beaverton on Oct 12, 2008 3:40 PM PDT reply actions

And that’s what you get for being so conservative after the pick.
