It’s a shame though, being a Bay Area dude I never used to bet against the 49ers, now I do it nearly all the time.
Any time JT O’Sullivan has a turnover, 1 shot of beer (or milk or soda or whatever makes you barf!!) ;)

Matt Barrows says
that no matter what happens the Yorks won’t fire Nolan during the season, so I’m hoping for Mikey to be a victim of spontaneous combustion on the sidelines today. Anyone know the gametime temperature?

firing
There was some stat somewhere about how teams never really do better after a midseason firing, unlike in baseball. Might as well just ride it out I guess.

There are reasons
If you have no expectation of a better performance under the current regime, then you there is no reason not to switch, not only to evaluate the talent but to evaluate the coaching staff. For ex, if anyone’s thinking about Martz, why not let him audition for the last half of the season? I think the rest of a Nolan regime is pretty predictable.

good point
Do you think with remote chances at the playoffs they don’t want to rock the boat? Of course the boat is already letting on water…

According to the comminsioner of the nfl, 104 people retired last year. 7 due to age, and the rest because of Patrick Willis
Anyone notice

He could have read a book.
Luckily, the Giants seem to still be a little sleepy too.

First 3 downs on defense
1st and second down saw them use a 3-4, on the 3rd and long they used a nickel…so far less big sub…hopefully that’ll stay the same.

On the bright side
the defense hasn’t been too bad. The problem is that with the exchange of punts the Giants keep getting better and better field position.

Yea I still want Smith. He never got a chance to do anything. The one year he had a good OC was year 2 with Norv and he had a good year. It’s not his fault the OL let Rocky Bernard pile drive him in the the ground killing his shoulder. And Smith excells when he knows everything about the system, where to throw, where receivers will be etc… it can only go up hill. You can’t honestly think JTO is any better?

He wasn’t good at Utah just because of the system. I don’t know you but i’m sure you couldn’t be thrown into a Spread offense and just put up big numbers. Smith has skill, he is athletic and has a good arm. If anything, like you said, his confidence is lacking. And what do you expect when your head coach is a jerkoff who calls you out to the media? Nolan is a HORRIBLE coach, and I don’t think Martz is the answer either, Singletary should be coach next year. Unless the Yorks (who are also horrible) can get Bill Cowher in to do the job.

He was walking off before the half ended…not sure if he was out there that last drive, although nothing was said by the announcers. Maybe he got dinged and they don’t want him to get hurt on those returns?

The thing with Gore
is even on bad days, if you keep handing it to him he eventually breaks one.

JTO is HOE
It seems that his confidence has dwindled since the beginning of the seasson… he is letting the loses get to him put in Hill.
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

NEW THREAD OPENED
I just opened up a new thread, so head on over there when you get a second. Maybe we can mix this up a little and change the momentum (playing the Nolan drinking game has me a little messed up in the head right now)

Perhaps we can have a Nolan post-game drinking game.
