Its over

I have no officially given up on the 2008 San Francisco 49ers. They will not make the playoffs, unless something drastic, a miracle happens. Looking at our schedule i say we go 6-10, or 5-11. I will keep on watching the games, cuz im a die hard fan, but honestly this is a terrible football team that doesnt utilize any "strengths" that they have. I've found my new team, your Super Bowl Champions... Carolina Panthers baby

So then...

you might not be receptive to my front page post for tomorrow about how we’re clearly turning the corner and going to make playoffs?

Are you really making that post, or is it sort of tongue-in-cheek? We’d probably have to go 6-2 from here on out to have a chance to make the playoffs and I just can’t see that happening, no matter how much I want it to. I like Singletary’s style though, and I hope he does turn this team around.

Sarchasm

In my defense, I saw the sarchasm, peeked over the edge, sort of acknowledged it was there, and then tripped and fell into it. On second thought, I’m not really sure that’s good for my defense.

I f I can agree with Fooch

wait…you think the panthers are going to win the super bowl! that is the biggest joke ever. Look at their division, they might not even make the playoffs because of the fact they ALL have records .500 and above.

Looking at our division we still have a chance to make a good playoff run if Hill stays healthy.

I don’t get it, what did you expect from this team going into the year?

by TexanNiner on Oct 26, 2008 7:30 PM PDT reply actions

Seriously

It’s not like this team had high hopes going into the year. As bad as things have been, is anyone who’s watched this team for the past couple years really surprised to see things go the way they have?

He's a bandwagoner.

Look at his username, Dub4lif3 ???
Tell me that isn’t a bandwagoning name for when the Warriors turned the corner.

Jeez.
don’t be a fan then. Go root for the Panthers. You aint a die hard.
cuz you just died to us: hella softly.

Judging me

based on what my username is, buddy you dont know the real defintion of what a die hard fan is. Ive been a warriors fan all my life, gone through the bad and the good. Only reason i said for the panthers to win the super bowl because there a solid team, and im trying to find a bright spot on this lucrative sunday. I’ve been trying to say each and every loss that we had, that we are gonna bounce back, but this season is done, you gotta be realistic here man. The definition of a die hard fan is to know when to believe and when to say its over

We got to cut him a little slack

We picked the Panthers as the most likely team to reach the Super Bowl after Week 4. Still liking that pick too, although our AFC team to reach the Super Bowl is looking a little shaky…

agreed

i choose a backup team when playoff time comes every year. why? it has nothing to do with bandwagons! it has everything to do with loving football and watching it. my choice this year is actually the titans or pats. the titans because they are what the 9ers should be. a very defensive team with an offense that manages the game!. the pats because if they win it will shut up all of the spygate idiots and show that rguardless of videotaping or whatever, you still have to execute the plays!

Fans stuck in the 80's are lame. Respect the past, live in the now.

I think most people forgot the spygate

by ro128487 on Oct 27, 2008 6:31 PM PDT up reply actions

I highly doubt that.

The media has probably washed their hands of it (probably at the request of the NFL), but there are plenty of AFC fans that probably still remember.

Good point by maveric, though. Spying or not, the Pats have solid coaching and players that play well to that coaching, and that should not be discounted.

pretty sure most football fans have a "second team"

I was a big Drew Brees fan back in his days at Purdue, so I followed the Chargers for a couple years, and have been a pretty big Saints fan since he signed in New Orleans.

And man, I’ll tell you…while those games may be a lot less painful to watch, rooting for the Saints isn’t any less hard on a fan. Slow starts, shoddy defense, and poor special teams all take the spotlight away from a really spectacular offensive squad.

And also, that forces me to hate the division rival Panthers, so…yeah.
