Why the 49ers Will Beat the Patriots
Hey it's time to come out of the trenches fighting and showing who is the boss. The 49ers are a potentially playoff-caliber team and we need to start winning games to prove that. It's time for technique to show up and for the defense to be at the right place at all times, the offense needs to click today, including the running game.
It is the day when Vernon Davis will have a big game. O'Sullivan will give Davis a few chances to do some superb route running and get big gains as a result. They have been practicing, in fact so it is just a matter of time when they start hooking up in games. I am looking for Davis to have a couple 100-plus yard games, maybe several, but all the receivers will be vying for catches by being at the right place as I said for both the defense and offense to be in. Davis cannot continue to make the drops, they make him look bad. He needs to develop more of an instinct when to lunge for the ball. He has the speed to separate himself from defenders but the matter is to lunge for the ball when it is slightly, just slightly overthrown, he should have the built-in instinct to lunge for the ball in order to catch it instead of falling behind and making it look catchable but slipped through his fingers.
That's one course for Davis to cross, and once he does, he will become the "invincible" because of his sheer ability to separate himself from secondaries.
Today Frank Gore will do some lead blocks and gain 90-plus yards today and I am hoping he goes over 100 yards because it would tighten the bolts on the game for a pulled out victory. We need the running game going and the passing game perfectly sandwiched between pockets of time when Gore or DeShaun Foster gets the ball.
I expect O'Sullivan to throw for two touchdowns and for the backfield to have one touchdown and one defensive touchdown from a turnover the 49ers created. I expect the defense to make a big play or two.
I want Clement to step up because of his huge salary, he needs to make a couple of big plays when it counts. We need leadership in the secondary despite who's playing. We need to create things just for the sake of it, to stir things up and get the offense going. We have the offense, we just need to penetrate defenses and get rolling that way. I am looking at who gets paid the most and expect these players to step up. The highest paid players are franchise-type players. Let them run the show.
Bruce will haul in a touchdown. He's good for it, so he will have his thing done in the end zone. He is just a precise route runner that he is able to find himself on the receiving end in the red zone. Battle will continue to have good games since his recent 120 receiving yards in the last game against the Saints. I would like to go back to Davis, he has a responsibility to make catches today. He needs to go over that hump.
Whenever Gore makes a long gain, it will provide an electrifying spark at times when the 49ers machine slow down. People are going to be running for their exact destination to make a play happen, all day long, with O'Sullivan making at least 40 or more passing attempts.
My final conclusion is that the 49ers will defeat the Patriots 38-31.
