Week 12 Prediction Games
EDITOR'S NOTE 12:15PM: I want to give a quick thanks to ninjames for hooking us up with some solid prizes for the prediction contest. He's gotten us 2 copies of Blitz: The League 2 and a $50 giftcard for NFLShop.com. Throw in the 3 Circuit City giftcards and the Red Grange book and we're loading up on prizes. I haven't decided who will get what in terms of prizes but show your appreciation to ninjames by checking out his Golden Nuggets every morning and throw out any links you can find.
I have to admit I was bit surprised to pick up 5 points last week. I remain in a tie for 11th, but I lie poised to pounce on the unsuspecting playoff contenders (well they were unsuspecting, but howtheyscored continues to call me out in his recap). If I hadn't gone against the unbeaten Titans who knows where I'd be now. Never bet against the streak.
Including this week, there are six weeks left in the NFL season. For the teams, this week's matchups provide a chance to get a little breathing room, or at the very least, a little confidence with a win against a quality opponent. For the prediction contest, each week provides another opportunity to gain ground, or solidify your position. We have a sizeable contingent of folks looking to move into a playoff spot and time is slowly running out.
So, let's get to the games:
49ers @ Dallas - Sunday 11/23 1:05pm
Green Bay @ New Orleans - MNF 11/24 5:30pm
Indianapolis @ San Diego - SNF 11/23 8:15pm
Minnesota @ Jacksonville - Sunday 11/23 10:00am
Carolina @ Atlanta - Sunday 11/23 1:15pm
NY Giants @ Arizona - Sunday 11/23 1:15pm
I think I've managed to select a group of games that will be tough to call. Does anybody dare go against the red-hot Giants in Arizona? Carolina is playing really well and Atlanta is coming off their firsthome loss. Hmmmm....
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

I haven't picked this many road teams in a loooong time.
49ers @ Dallas: 30 – 21
Green Bay @ New Orleans: 24 – 28 (this game appears to favor the Packers so heavily, I can’t even justify my pick except by stupidly saying “OMG HOAM TEAM”)
Indianapolis @ San Diego: 31 – 24
Minnesota @ Jacksonville: 19 – 17
Carolina @ Atlanta: 21 – 17
NY Giants @ Arizona: 33 – 17

Why are people picking against the Niners?
49ers @ Dallas 31 – 27
Green Bay @ New Orleans 21 – 31
Indianapolis @ San Diego 20 – 22
Minnesota @ Jacksonville 20 – 31
Carolina @ Atlanta – 28 – 24
NY Giants @ Arizona 41 – 10
I pick against the Niners because jtoj calls people out for doing it

I thought that was more a travel-to-the-east-coast thing than a playing-at-10am-thing.
Honestly, if there wasn’t someone trying to pressure people into picking the Niners every week, I would probably pick them at least 10 weeks out of the year.

i agree
at this point I pick against them, solely because of jtoj

Wk 12 Prediction Game
49ers @ Dallas – 20-27. Was really worried the way the Rams seemed to run for fun in 1st quarter last week. If Dallas do that, its going to be a long day.
Green Bay @ New Orleans – 31-24. The Pack can run the ball, is the difference here.
Indianapolis @ San Diego – 21-17. The Colts are on a roll now,SD up their game against better teams but not enough.
Minnesota @ Jacksonville – 14-17. Difficult one this, home advantage good.
Carolina @ Atlanta – 24-28. Falcons are much better at home.
NY Giants @ Arizona – 38-31. Could be a shootout this one. Can’t bet against the Giants, who to me are the best team right now.

Interesting. Though, if none of the games end in a tie, then I won’t be able to count any of the scores. If every game ends in a tie, though, that’s an awesome week for you. High risk, high reward?

The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.
i haven't heard anyone mention this week that...

thats because its a foregone conclusion
i dont see the cards losing out and the niners winning out, so it doesn’t really matter if they clinch this week or not

Indianapolis @ San Diego – 26-23. Upset special #2!
Minnesota @ Jacksonville – 23-20. Third upset special, guess they’re not so special this week!
Carolina @ Atlanta – 21-24. Hard one to call.
NY Giants @ Arizona – 26 – 21. Giants are damn good.

wow
5 games done, I’ve picked 5 winners, but only one (IND-SD) did I get a raw score in single digits. Not looking like a great week, despite picking the winners right.
Still defending Rich Aurilia, and the Niners' classic unis
Can someone explain the scoring, Ive been playing for a few weeks and still dont know?
I see the future, and it is Pablo
look
you take the difference between the actual total points and your predicted total points, and add that to the difference between the actual point differential and predicted point differential to get a raw score, lowest raw score is 1st place, 3 points, next lowest is 2nd place, 2 points, next lowest is 3rd place, 1 point. Have to predict the right winner.

for real
I usually make my picks Friday, but I was busy all day and night. Then I was out all day yesterday at the big game and celebrating after. I woke up at like 6 AM and realized I hadn’t made my picks yet, so I popped some advil and set the alarm for 9:40 to make sure I had time to get them in before kickoff.
