Week 12 Prediction Games: The Results, Official Version - Officially

EDITOR'S NOTE: Current results are OFFICIAL, suckas.
Let's make this quick, because none of us (read: me) have time to waste with a bunch of bad jokes and Lewis Carroll references:
Oh happy day! Callou, callay! The Packers got drilled and Brady Quinn sucks again. Life is, in fact, looking up!
About the prediction games, though, I think I'll start with this:
"I think I've managed to select a group of games that will be tough to call."- Fooch
Yeah, no [site decorum], genius! We were collectively awful this week. Did you guys realize that most of you predicted the Packers and the Panthers would win? Did you guys know that many of you predicted the 49ers would win? Way to play the [site decorum] odds, jerks!
Just how collectively awful were we? Look for yourself:
49ers @ Dallas:
- groug, Niner Fan Lost in WI (4)
- marcello, albertoleecho (8)
- illini49er, sancho8297 (10)
Green Bay @ New Orleans:
- Mike Hawk (28)
- Rishi (40)
- groug (42)
Indianapolis @ San Diego:
- jtoj (0) - Well, we weren't all awful!
- Ninerfromacrossthepond, Number22Drew, wjackalope (6)
- bayboy, proudcanadian99, Josh from Hollywood, albertoleecho, CB30 (8)

NY Giants @ Arizona:
- proudcanadian99, Ninerfromacrossthepond (4)
- 49erLou, ro128487 (6)

So there you have it. We had two games that a grand total of 5 people made any points on. Thank god for jtoj and his eternal ire, otherwise this would have really been embarrasing. And congratulations do go to jtoj, whose perfect score shot him not only into the playoffs, but also right into the thick of the ever thickening overall regular season hunt.
groug also had a great week, and after weeks and weeks of me making fun of him, he's finally forced me to stop making fun of him. groug, until at least next week, your football game predicting skills are no poorer than adequate and no better than StrictlyFootball's.
Other than that, we were kind of a collective ball of meh.
Except for Ninerfromacrossthepond, proudcanadian99, and ro129497. In fact, it would be irresponsible not to mention Ninerfromacrossthepond. He was really good this week. Kind of to groug's dismay. Ha! Sucks to be groug!
I scored 0 points, but I take a moral victory in the fact that I almost scored points. Which makes the moral victory games leaderboard look like this:
- howtheyscored - 75
- you jerks - 8
So there!
And Fooch got 1. Pulling away from sfgfan 1 point at a time!

Well, the least I can do is pretend to try not to.

wow
I’m like Brett Favre. Still on top, but slowly fading into mediocrity. Or something like that. The point I’m trying to make is that I was once good, and now, although I’m still in the lead, I haven’t been very good in a while. 5 winners correct, one second place finish. And only one other where I was really close to getting third place. My girlfriend decided to make the picks this week, and she got all 6 winners. I’m losing to my girlfriend who doesn’t even watch the NFL.
I need to get back in gear for the last few weeks if I want to hang on to first place.

i got jibbed...
my prediction Min 20-13
actual: Min 30-12
isn’t that a 9 point difference.. shouldn’t I get a second place?
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

The difference in point differential alone is 11.
20 – 13 = 7
30 – 12 = 18
18 – 7 = 11.
Add the difference in points total to that.
20 + 13 = 33
30 + 12 = 42
42 – 33 = 9
Oh, I see what you did. It’s differentials and totals. Your score was 20.

oh snap...
didn’t know you were adding differentials as well as totals… Got it. My bad!

Still in 4th or 5th place. Don’t worry though, I’m just drafting to save energy for the final push.

thanks for the compliment howtheyscored...
I can’t believe I ended up doing that well. However, when I checked my prediction for the Falcons game I’m not sure I won that one. I predicted Atlanta to win 28-24 and the score was 45-28.Would this not make my score 34.
Total: mine 28+24=52. actual 45+28=73. score 73-52=21.
Differential: mine 28-24=4. actual 45-28=17. score 17-4=13.
Overall: 21+13=34.
Please double-check just to be sure.
I thought I would only have a chance in the SD and NY games and thought with that score I would be miles away in the Atlanta game.
One thing I can’t believe is that an Englishman is actually challenging you Yanks for a playoff spot in this game.
Also, the effect this prediction game has had on me when I’m watching the games, you know wanting the teams I picked only to win and only by the score I chose.
I love this game and I love the sport.

I’ll have to check that tonight when I get back and have my spreadsheet to consult. It’s quite possible that I made a mistake while rushing. Thanks for bringing it up.
For now, I’ll leave a disclaimer that results are not, as yet, official.

And you are absolutely right. I accidentally input your score as 24 – 38. I re-checked the rest of the scores for that game, and we’re all good. I’m updating the chart above.
Thanks for your integrity.

Actually, I fixed that. Your blockquote looks funny, though, because it doesn’t maintain my strikethrough.

Actually, my strikethrough doesn’t seem to exist in the published version. I need to go put it back in. I wonder how that happened.

Weird, it’s not holding onto my strikethrough no matter what I do right now. I’ll just have to delete the offending words altogether.

Also, it no longer sucks to be groug. It is now merely mildly unpleasant (Unlike interacting with me! Zing! …aww.)

Holy frick, I did my calculations and thought there’s no way I’d win anything this week after getting shut out the past two weeks…i very excite! Look out 17th place, here I come!!!
The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.

woohoo!
scoring change nets me an extra point! it’s not often you get a raw score of 42 and get points out of it!
