Trade for Boldin
Since there is so much talk about what the 9ers will do come offseason, I thought it would be good to throw out probably one of the best ideas for the 9ers to execute on this coming offseason. Trade for Anquan Boldin! He wants out. He wants to be the #1 guy as well. I love how physical he plays too. Probably the toughest to Hines Ward. A great option for a franchise looking to get physical.

Send the Cards our #1 in '09...
and pay AB what he deserves. Why pay a #1 pick who’s unproven and who may or may not pan out the rough equivilant of what we could pay AB? I’ll take a young and proven player over the “promise” of a draft pick any day.

Divisional trade
What are the actual odds that Arizona would trade Boldin within the division? I agree that if we could get him it’d be worth it considering you’re getting something a lot more guaranteed than a drafted wide receiver. However, the whole intra-divisional trade would keep it from happening.

Old fashioned.
It’s a very old fashioned approach, but you may just be right Fooch. It’s not like the Cardinals are cutting him loose because he can’t perform anymore. They just can’t afford to give him what he deserves in terms of money.

Also, if he sincerely wants out of Arizona, particularly if it is because of his contract, why give anything up for him now when 1) it would mean inheriting the contract that he wants out of so badly to begin with, 2) we could probably get him without giving anything up when he Arizona has no choice but to let him walk.

Trade Michael Lewis and Manny lawson for Boldin
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

Ha…don’t exactly think that the Cardinals would go for that. I think he will cost a first round pick (or maybe early 2nd). But I don’t think the Cardinals would trade him within the division. By the way I don’t think the Cardinals will cut him, there will definitely be a trade market for them if their contract dispute continues. As an aside I have to respect Boldin for playing through his contract even though he thinks he deserves better.

Boldin is pompous
Follow him, another TO. Good player, but at a non monetary price. Not a fit. By the way what about a QB?

I don’t think he is another TO. He isn’t a publicity whore like Owens, he just wants a better contract and he probably deserves one. If we were to trade for him, we would have to rework his deal and give him some more money.

Hmmm...
I live in AZ and have heard nothing but good things about Boldin from the press and the team. But, do you really think that the Cardinals are stupid enough to trade him within the division? I mean, even if the Niners offered all their draft picks next year, the Cardinal front office will tell the Niners to go dig a hole until they reach Australia.

POWPOW!
Didn’t we get Bryant Johnson because he was AB jr.? I don’t think AB would help if we don’t have a QB…i say just work on the O-line and D-line…everything else will fix itself…maybe not the QB situation…Colt McCoy FTW!

BJ <> Q
Bryant Johnson drops as many balls as he catches; Bryant Johnson fumbles when he gets nailed; Bryant Johnson spends more time in the training room (at least Q has an excuse!).
Mr. Niner, I know Anquan Boldin, and Bryant Johnson is no Anquan Boldin.
All kidding aside, Anquan is a fine man and has been proactive in the community and with the franchise. The Anquan Boldin that made all the noise in the media in August was the puppet head of Drew Rosenhaus. The Anquan Boldin that has been doing a Chris Carter impersonation (all he does is score touchdowns) is the “real” Anquan. Professional. Inspirational. Leader. Pro-bowler.
Does Q deserve more money? Hell yes. Will the Cardinals do everything they can to pay him? Yes. They will try but they will only go so far. Anquan isn’t the only “professional, inspirations, leader, pro-bowler” on the Cardinals’ roster (Hell truly must be freezing over), as Karlos Dansby wants to be paid, Adrian Wilson deserves to be paid more, Kurt Warner wants to play and get paid, Antonio Smith wants to be paid, next year’s rookie class will be overpaid…you get the idea. The Cards want to pay him but they want to pay others, especially if this mixture of players goes somewhere in the post-season.
Will Anquan get traded? I’m about 60-40 on that; if he does, he will not be traded within the division and most likely not in the conference. I’d guess that Jacksonville or Miami could be likely places to find himself since he calls Florida home.
Since this thread is an excercise in mental masturbation, just to play along, Frank Gore for Anquan Boldin, straight up. :P

Quan
I would kill to have Anquan boldin. He is exactly what we need. In addition to having reliable hands, speed and un-matched toughness (he is currently playing with a face taht is half metal plates) I think he would be a great influence on Davis and Hill. What is his contract like? How many more years is he signed for? I don’t like the idea of giving up a #1, as we’ve seen how that works out long term, but think he would be great.
