Vernon Davis on not being in for that last offensive play:
"It was frustrating," Davis said, "because I thought I should have been in on it. My thing is, you have to keep me on him. Don't take me out. Keep me on him."

Davis
As much crap as we all give Davis, Singletary has said he’s a phenomenal blocking tight end. Furthermore, even though he has steel hands, he’s still a threat in the red zone, particularly when they stick a linebacker on him. Any ideas why he wouldn’t be on the field?

It's just another bad call..
It seems to me that 4 wide receivers with no protection is a lot more risky than putting Davis on Porter and giving Sean Hill time to pick one of 3 receivers.. I’m a bit perplexed too. For me it just narrows down to simply another questionable and critical game-changing Martz call. I’m even more frustrated because Martz has shown that he can make good calls and chooses not to.

Martz to Jauron...
Maybe Martz can talk some sense into Jauron about late game play calling.
“Mike, it’s Dick. Can you do me a solid and slip me some 411 on this end of game dope?”
“Well, Dick, I prefer the max non-protect formula on 4th downs at end of games when facing the league’s sack leader. I find it’s very stimulating to send 16 men into the pattern and see what kind of magic my hand-picked QB can deliver to prove my genius.”
“You da shizzle, Mikey.”

I have no problem with these comments
I want players on my team who feel that they should be on the field every play because they can help the team.

I just Mike Martz
or more specifically his stubbornness and refusal to help his o-line at all

hate?
Seems a bit strong. The problem is that it seems like you have to take the good with the bad with Martz. He does stuff like this, but just last week he called a brilliant game against the Jets.

it's not a matter of...
…taking the good with the bad. it’s a matter of the bad not always coming when it’s extremely important to game outcome (see end of games @ARI and @MIA, also red zone plays @ARI and @MIA) and the good coming when it’s not as important to game outcome (see 49er proficiency between the 20s this week). can’t win with ’em!
