I don’t see what your point is. It seems like a pretty good Fanpost to me. People really enjoy doing this kind of thing, and Dub’s asking for discussion about something that can actually create discussion.
So, I mean, what the heck’s your point, jtoj?

What's your problem

jtoj’s comment is unnecessary and we’ll leave it at that. I agree with howtheyscored in that this is a solid enough FanPost because it offers up a question, includes your thoughts and opens the floor to people. If you don’t like the topic, don’t write in it. I’m not going to delete these comments, but if this continues I will.

I don’t see the Carolina Panthers making the Super Bowl. I think any of the NFC East teams are better than them.

I think Carolina’s had much poorer season than their record indicates, but that their win last week over the Packers showed that they do have the skill to beat tough teams. They’re a good sleeper pick. If they build some momentum against a tough schedule for the rest of the year (Tampa Bay, Denver, NYG, New Orleans), they could just be poised.

Wohhhhhhhh, easy there dodgers_suck
Even the Egggglssss?!
But I second the,
I think Carolina’s had much poorer season than their record indicates,
that Howtheyscored said. While they have a threatening defense they don’t really scare me like the bucs can (at times), atlanta does (at times), and the giants do (all the time)

Tampa Bay, Carolina & Atlanta
It’s an interesting scenario with these three teams. Carolina is the most balanced team of the 3 (13th in Offensive DVOA & 8th in Defensive DVOA), while Tampa Bay (22nd in Offensive DVOA & 3rd in Defensive DVOA) and Atlanta (4th in Offensive DVOA & 21st in Defensive DVOA) are more lopsided and completely opposite to each other in their lopsidedness.
I know that defense is supposed to win championships but Tampa Bay’s offense really doesn’t scare me and in turn they scare me the less than Carolina and Atlanta.

Tampa Bay's leading that division
It’s hard for me to see them not making the playoffs.
And I could see Denver coming out of nowhere to make a serious run. They’re wildly inconsistent, but they’re a solid team when they put it all together.

"Tampa Bay's leading that division"
Well they play Carolina (who they’re tied with) and Atlanta (who they’re only one game up on) on the road in the next two weeks. If they lose both of those games they’ll be in trouble. But if they take just one of them they finish the season with Denver and Oakland at home so they’d probably be pretty safe.
My roommate is a Broncos fan so I’ve watched just about every one of their games this season and they’re defense is absolutely horrible. Their offense can score with just about anyone but their defense isn’t good enough to get them very far in the playoffs.

I'm too lazy...
… to do the whole prediction tree as you did Dub4Lif3, but I do think that I like the Titans, Steelers, and maybe even the Ravens about the same as the Jets, if not more. There will be quite a few difficult games for those three teams on the remaining schedule, so it’ll be interesting to see how they come out of it.
The NFC is a bit more of a toss-up, I’d say. It’ll be similar to last year: which ever team ends the year the hottest may have the best chance of going all the way.

So because i’m just as lazy as everyone else i wont do the whole prediction tree and just tell you who will make the superbowl.
Heres my prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

I can see that prediction, but...
Are we completely writing off the Giants? Are we just assuming that because they are the best team, they are ripe for a dissapointing loss? Has the loss of Plax hurt their public opinion?
I still have the Giants making the Super Bowl, and until they start losing their edge, I dont see a team in the NFC, or the NFL for that matter, beating them.
As for the AFC, I’m torn between the Ravens, the Steelers and the Jets (I don’t believe in the Titans at all once the playoffs start). If I have to decide now, I think the Ravens fight to the superbowl.
Thats right, Rematch. Giants v Ravens, with the Giants walking away back-to-back champs.
UNLESS THE NINERS CATCH FIRE THEN THEY ARE ALL BONED!

Got a bit more time on my hands at mo...
so I’ll do the whole prediction thing. I think it’s a bit of fun anyways as well as giving everyone my ideas as to how it’s going to go and who’s going to win. Here goes
NFC- 1.NY Giants AFC-1.Tennessee
2.Carolina 2.Pittsburgh
3.Arizona 3.NY Jets
4.Minnesota 4.Denver
5.Tampa Bay 5.Indianapolis
6.Dallas 6.Baltimore
Wildcard Games: NFC- Dallas @ Arizona – Dallas
Tampa Bay @ Minnesota – Minnesota
AFC- Baltimore @ NY Jets – Baltimore
Indianapolis @ Denver – Indianapolis
Divisional Games:NFC-Dallas @ NY Giants – NY Giants
Minnesota @ Carolina – Carolina
AFC-Baltimore @ Tennessee – Tennessee
Indianapolis @ Pittsburgh – Pittsburgh
Championship Games: NFC- Carolina @ NY Giants – NY Giants
AFC- Pittsburgh @ Tennessee – Pittsburgh
Superbowl – Pittsburgh v NY Giants – Pittsburgh.
Can’t really believe I going against the Giants as I’ve been singing their praises all season, but defense wins championships as they say and the Steelers D is the best, so I’m going for them – just!

Why?
Why would you want another team to tally up a 6th Super Bowl win so they pass the 9ers?

It's not about "wanting"...
Predictions are about what you think will happen. I’m sure the predictor of perfect scores doesn’t always want the outcomes he predicts, right?
by sfgfan on Dec 11, 2008 9:27 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
That wasn't my point though
He said he’s going for the Steelers. I was so only asking why he would since a SB win would put them ahead of us.

And that's why...
… I responded with what I did. It’s not like if he were to predict the Steelers to lose that they would magically lose to preserve the tie. So he’s “predicting” what he thinks will happen, not what he wants to happen.
by sfgfan on Dec 13, 2008 10:33 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
He said he was going for the Steelers
That is not a prediction. Everything he said before that was. Not the last line. And thats why I asked why he’d do that.

Really?
It sounds to me that he thinks the Steelers defense is better than the Giants, and that defense wins championships. Wording sounds like he’s rooting for them, but it all sounds like a prediction to me (and I’m sure most everyone else).
