What’s the rule regarding these kinds of situations? I know the referee has to protect himself, but it doesn’t seem very fair to the ballcarrier either.

officials are part of the field, so you can treat them accordingly. you may knock them down if necessary… but yeah, if the official is in your way… tough luck
