Around SBN: How Not To Criticize Tom Brady For The Patriots' Loss

WR Choices

I am sort of new to writing diaries so if this is repetitive of other topics I apologize.  There is a lot of discussion about whether our Niners need to add a Wide Receiver or if we are all set.  So I thought it would be interesting to get everyone's thoughts on the Niners options.  To create a framework I thought I would propose a survey that has some options for receivers that have been discussed on this site and others.  For the trade options lets just assume the the receiver can be had for a second round and another late round draft pick.

My vote
Put me down as: No thanks, we're all set.  I really think our receiving core is above average.  I understand how terrible last year was but I don't think it reflects our true skill level.  Now, if we could trade for Chad or Roy for a 3rd round pick or later, I would be interested.  Otherwise, no thanks.
We are not who I thought we were.

Surprize
This poll was born out of a debate between Braekneck and me.  Obviously nothing is dispositive off of a poll on a blog but where were all the people who voted for adding a WR when we were having our discussion.  I think Braekneck has been intimidating people around here.  But no more.  You can all feel free to tell him how wrong he is on this WR issue.

It's just easier
To click a poll option that it is to articulate a stance on something.  It's funny that everyone wants us to trade for Chad Johnson, too bad that rumor has zero merit to it and he's not going anywhere as Cincy would take a $8+ million cap hit if they dealt him.  Therefore, you're just wishing at this point.
Here's to hoping Albert Hanyesworth stomps on Alex Smith's head.

85 isn't Ocho Cinco
I voted for trading for Johnson, but not because I think we can.  If we could give up a fourth rounder for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat.  But like I said before, it's not a priority to get a #1 receiver, it would just be fun to see.

It would be like trading for Peyton Manning for a fifth round draft choice.  Pure fun to think about, but it would never ever happen.

Thinking of giving up sports and taking up heavy drinking.

Trades for Players
I am not really sure how to respond to your comeent considering the diary entery said to assume the players can be traded for a second and later round pick.  Obvioulsy everyone would trade a fourth rounder for Chad Johnson.

Who has the time???
I'm a somewhat busy guy, so it's not like I have the time to read all of what you posted...  Words, words words...  It's all just too much.

Re: 4th round pick, I'm making a reference to the Randy Moss trade there, realizing that it's a completely useless comparison.  I'm just saying I'd love to see Chad in a Niners uni, even if I don't think we should give very much up to get him.

I don't care how we do it
but we need a #1 receiver.  the draft is risky but there are some attractive options, so that's probably where they'll look.  sadly, the niners brain trust has been completely incapable of drafting WRs since we got TO.  This is what the list looks like*:
  1. Bust
  2. Bust
  3. Bust
  4. Bust
  5. Never had a chance
  6. Bust
  7. Bust
  8. Didn't let him play
this list not based on fact, only perception*

wait, why is that bold
and how did that asterisk get on the end of that sentence?  and I thought those were colons. either auto format is really messing with me or I am badly in need of more sleep.  probably both.
