Star-divide
The Miami Dolphins finally resolved the lingering status of Jason Taylor today, by trading him to the San Francisco 49ers for a first and third round pick. The picks (29th and 70th overall) give the Dolphins a smattering of picks in this year's draft. Miami's new Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Bill Parcells, now owns the 1st, 29th, 32nd, 58th, 64th and 70th picks of the NFL draft.

With an unprecedented number of picks in the first three rounds, the Dolphins are poised to improve on last year's dismal 1-15 record.

"Jason Taylor represented the Miami Dolphins admirably in his 11 seasons with the club. We wish him the best with his new team," said Parcells in a statement. "We have no animosity towards Jason, we just felt it was time to move on."

It was no secret that Parcells and Taylor did not envision their futures on the same team. In early March, both sides agreed that it may be best to part ways before the NFL Draft on April 29th.

While many teams were rumored to be interested in Taylor, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, it seems that the 49ers came in at the last minute and offered the Dolphins a deal they could not refuse.

The 49ers were seeking an upgrade to a defense that has not generated much pass rush over the last couple of seasons. With the free agent additions of Justin Smith and now Jason Taylor, the 49ers are aiming to provide a jump start to an already improving defense.

Jason Taylor is currently a participant on Dancing With the Stars, but sources say he will join the team's offseason program at the conclusion of his tenure on the dance competition.
It took me a while
It was just too, too strange that after losing the fifth rounder, we'd give up two high picks for an older, obsolete player. I would have been completely fooled if it hadn't been so completely ridiculous.

Nice one. Got the heart racing briefly.

I keep reliving the moment when Steve Young almost fell down... over and over....

Did you see the last paragraph of that article?
Agent Drew Rosenhaus plans to address the NFL board to clear the air on the 49ers tampering case. According to a private interview with the Chicago Examiner, Rosenhaus' testimony is said to be so overwhelmingly in favor of the 49ers that they may be given the Bear's first round draft picks for the remainder of the decade. Goodell plans to fine Rosenhaus a third round draft pick for his statements.
