Trade Idea

After passing on Ryan the Falcons trade #34 and 37 to us for #29, 75, and next years 3rd or 4th to make sure they get Brohm.

We would then have picks 34, 37, and 39 and could grab 3 of the following:

Mayo
Groves
Baker
Nicks
Laws
Sims
Kelly
Hardy
Avril

Probably won't happen but its fun to speculate.

I'd be up for this...
... depending on what offensive linemen are taken up until #29.  Considering the depth in the draft at positions of need for the 49ers, trading down from #29 to pick up two early second rounders would be like trading a first for almost two firsts, which is something that does sound intriguing.

Imagine coming away with Mayo, Baker, and Groves. That woudl be insane.  Heck, even coming away with something like Baker, Nicks and Groves would be pretty good.

yea
i had the same idea when i saw that the falcons may want to trade back into the 1st round for brohm.  but both early 2nd round picks is kind of a lot considering they could grab henne with one of those picks for sure.  id love to see it happen though, its a good idea.

around the nfl...
With the news of Jared Allen perhaps being traded to  the Vikings, it is safe to add Harvey to the list above?
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

no
id love harvey, but his stock is rising.  some "draft experts" are saying he could slip into the top 5 ahead of chris long now.  i dont see him doing that, but i think he'll be long gone before #29.

Mayo
As much as i would love to see this, i can't see Mayo dropping all the way to 34.  But it awesome to dream.

Dream on...
Yeah, this is definitely a dream: the Falcons front office may not be the strongest, but they're sure to be able to read the draft chart and realize that they'd be trading 1090 points away for 640--and that's even if they ONLY trade the #34 and #37 picks to us.  It's more reasonable to think they might trade the #37 and a third rounder (#68)(=780 points) or the #37 and two fourth rounders #37, #98, #104 (530+108+98=736 points).  They'd have to be awfully high on Brohm to do your deal or the 1st one I've proposed here--and that's less likely now that the former Louisville coach Bobby Petrino isn't in the Falcons' front office.  Then again I'd be right pissed off if I found out that it was a possibility and the Niners didn't take it (provided Cherilous is off the board).

huh?
The deal I proposed is 34 and 37 ( 1090) for 29, 75 (960) + next years 3rd or 4th which would be worth somewhere between 200 and 70 value points. Also note that there is a new chart http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/15/new-draft-trade-chart/

new trade value chart
the new one actually makes a lot more sense when you look at players drafted in more recent years, and the contracts for higher draft picks.
