Niners Undrafted Free Agent List:

49ers TE Joe Jon Finley (Oklahoma)
49ers WR Cameron Colvin (Oregon)
49ers LB Ezra Butler (University of Nevada)
49ers WR Robert Jordan (University of California)
49ers LB Gary Guyton (Georgia Tech)

As a Raider fan I am bummed because Robert Jordan is JaMarcus Russell's cousin and I like his game.

This was a very deep draft and you can see by the talent level of the UDFAs that many teams are getting better as I write this.

Cheers,

Saint

I'm wondering

How did WRs Adarius Bowman and DJ Hall not get drafted?? I know Bowman got arrested for smoking weed (which is ridiculous in itself) but not even drafted? I have no idea who these wideouts are the 49ers picked up, but i’m guessing they won’t make the team. What a waste. btw, my buddy goes to UNR and he really likes Ezra Butler, says he’s a beast. So guess we’ll see.

Robert Jordan

He’s kind of like the beta version of Lavelle Hawkins.

And thus the wheel of time keeps on spinning, as the ages come and go…

Sorry, I think I just let on my extremely geeky side, and possibly made a reference that few of you will get… And those of you who do get it will still just call me a nerd.

What the heck???

I hadn’t heard that! Truth be told, I stopped reading as I waited for I think Book 10 to finally be released, and hadn’t followed anything he was working on since!

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am, even knowing that they hired someone else to complete the last installment.

Bowman has a 12 Month Delayed Sentence To Serve:

For possessing 2.3 grams of weed. That in itself is NUTS!!!

thanks saint

im excited to see colvin there. hopefully he can realize his massive potential. outside of him and jordan, anyone know anything about any of these guys?

is it bad

that im more excited about guyton, butler and colvin than i am about the draft picks?

guyton had an awsome combine, and obviously nolan saw something he liked at the sr. bowl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djiSTaswaFc&feature=related

butler is a pass rushing beast and i hope he can be what we all wanted TBC to be last year.

colvin just has incredible potential, but i really doubt he’ll ever do much…worth a shot though.

+1

I really like Colvin, Butler and Guyton. I think both Butler and Guyton have a seriously chance of making the roster as OLB.

by methodrampage on Apr 28, 2008 8:10 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Totally agree

I saw Guyton was rated as a fourth/fifth round pick on a few websites. Any word on why he didn’t get drafted? Combination of size/speed (250 pounds, 4.5 40) should have gotten him drafted. He seems like a legit prospect. Butler is another guy with great size/speed. Not sure if they’ll end up playing inside or stay at OLB, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see one or both of them make the roster.

Bulter is my favorite darkhorse to make the team.

He played the “Bandit” LB at Neveda which from my little research seems like a blitzing LB and rushing the passer is his strong suit so he’ll stay outside. As for Guyton, I’m not sure if he’ll play inside or outside.

thanks

Thanks for the info Saint…How you liking the Raiders draft results so far? How long till LaMont Jordan and Dominic Rhodes get the axe?

I'm loving them:

We just got faster and better at tackling.

It is funny because most of the guys we took are high IQ guys. Go figure!!!

undrafted potential

I would rate this undrafted free agent list to be one of the top out there… I was hoping Colvin and Butler to be drafted on the second day so I think these are great pick ups… I saw DJ Hall being mentioned in another post and feel he could have been a good option at WR/PR. Does anyone know if he got picked up by another team?

Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

undrafted free agents

Saint has a solid list over at Silver and Black Pride of players undrafted free agents that have signed.

Hall is STILL Unsigned:

My guess is that he’ll have private tryouts for teams and then want 4th Round money to sign, same with Wesley Woodyard.

I think that the Vikes signed their UDFAs to draft pick money because they sure did sign a bunch of guys. A bunch of guys who will be looking for homes in August..Or sooner.

Patriots Sign Guyton

Not sure if this is accurate, but according to the Boston Globe, the Patriots signed Gary Guyton.

Just like anything else...

... nothing is official until a contract is signed. That’s why no one is seeing anything about UDFAs on the 49ers web page, as they don’t announce anything until it’s official. People can always agree to terms, but until they sign the paper, they’re technically free to change their minds.

Cam Colvin

Watching him play in college, he has great size and was pretty quick, he just had poor route-running skills – hopefully he surprises and makes an impact
