Bengals release Chris Henry

Chris Henry has a long list of run-ins with the law off the field but he has a lot of talent on the field.  Do you think the 49ers should take a calculated risk on Henry and offer him a 1 to 2 year deal with minimal or no bonus money?

Hell NO!
have we forgotten the Antonio Bryant experiment?
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

not a chance
you can bet Goodell is gonna come down pretty hard on this dude - I expect a hefty suspension.

Fuck no
When I saw that Chris Henry was released today, I couldn't wait until someone created a post here asking if we should pick him up, just so I could say, "Fuck no."

Thanks for playing your part.

I agree with everybody else
I just don't see how Chris Henry anywhere could be anything but a disaster at this point in his life.

Further agreement
As much talent as Chris Henry has, he's been a nonstop headache since BEFORE entering the NFL.  He entered the draft early in part because was kicked off the West Virginia football team.

Even if you do think the talent is worth the risk, there's also the issue of whatever suspension Der Kommissar will hand out.  I believe he was suspended for the first half of last year.  Would a full year suspension in 2008 surprise anybody?

At this point
No completely arbitrary (arbitrary does not necessarily mean undeserved) punishment that Goodell pans out for whatever shred of a reason he needs to pan one out will surprise me. He could ban Henry for life and I swear to god I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Again, not that Henry isn't deserving of league punishment (and actually, he is getting some with the suspension already in place). He is. Just that every decision Goodell has made since he got the job has been based on immediate whim rather than an actual, organized system.

agree on the Goodell comment
How hard is it to come up with a specific system for punishments?  I understand some situations are different than others but if you have a general framework, people might understand a little better.

Goodell
The dirty secret is that Goodell is just a hardcore D&D player.  The dice tell him what to do and, wouldn't you know it, he rolls 20's.
