Maybe it’s because I’m a braindead lump right now, but can somebody explain the rules for rookies and practicing before they sign? They can practice with the team, unsigned, up to a certain date? They can’t do it at all? Every memory that I have of this situation in the past appears to have been magically wiped from my brain, like the critical events in the early life of a protocol droid.
At least I win simile theater.

From what I understand...
Rookies can participate in the optional (or required) offseason program stuff leading up to the opening of training camp. I know there are a few rules for being out of school before you can come to work too, but I think that applies to OTAs only, and not the rest of the offseason program.
They can’t participate in training camp until they sign, though.
Thanks. That makes a lot of sense.

OTAs and school
Correct on the being out school. Larry Grant couldn’t work out in the OTAs until June 8 when Ohio State was done with class (I’m assuming they’re on the quarter system as I got out of college in mid May every year).
