Cowboys release Terry Glenn - Should 49ers try and sign him?
EDITOR'S NOTE 8pm - I don't expect the 49ers will make a move for Glenn, but I'm curious if people think they should. Or do the injuries just make him a waste of time?

I think for the first time in a while, I like our WR corps, but, just for fun, let's talk about taking Terry Glenn. He's obviously a top WR (maybe not a legit #1 receiving option though). Taking him would bolster our WR unit. He would be a good target for Smith/Hill to throw to. I feel it could make our team better.
Thoughts?

IMO,
Too injury prone, would cost too much for the return on investment, and would take reps and catches away from Battle/Johnson/Bruce/Hill/Davis. Not worth it to me.

Injury prone and he must not be healthy
Dallas wouln’t have released him if he was.

Ashley Lelie?
I’m not expecting it but how about bringing him in to compete with Ashley Lelie. Or dump Lelie and bring in Glenn on his own. Glenn has had plenty of injury issues but he still puts up very solid numbers when helathy (unlike Lelie).

Don't want a Green Bay Packer or a Dallas Cowboy...
stop infringing on the chemistry of the SF 49ers, Favre and Glenn! Favre’s and Glenn’s woes are their own, not our problem.
With Martz’s offense, Lelie will have his best year, or a year much improved over last year. Lelie has potential, and upside.
Glenn, if you ever sign with the 49ers, only on one stipulation:
If you score a touchdown for the 49ers in the Dallas home territory, run to the star like Terrell Owens did, and extend your arms like “you’re the best and trampling on Dallas’ territory.”
That is the one stipulation. And you know where the Dallas Cowboy owner is during the games.
Point at him, too.

uuuuhhhhhhhh.....no
Niners receiving core is fine the way it is. We don’t need another Isaac Bruce. At least Ike knows the system front to back.

We don’t need another Isaac Bruce.
This was pretty much my first reaction as well. But I also think that, if Bruce is our best receiver now, then adding another one of him would be a step up in the number two slot.
However, I still don’t believe that it would be adding a top flight receiver or improving the unit enough – especially long term – to justify the cost.

You said it....
beautifully. We do need to justify it by adding a top flight receiver in the long term- like a Terrell Owens. I am sorry he ever departed the 49ers, because I would have loved to see both TO and Isaac Bruce coming out of the same offense into their routes.
My choices:
1 Terrell Owens, #2 Isaac Bruce # Bryant Johnson #4 Jason Hill #5 Arnaz BattleAnd, yes, a changed TO who doesn’t whine anymore.

Could you imagine what an offense would be like if it had both Owens and Glenn? Wow, that would be something! Just imagine. Imagine…
Imagine.

My imagination is limited.
So I’ll defer to the ‘06 Dallas Cowboys.
