49ers Fantasy Depth Chart
Frank Gore will be the focal point in a revamped 49ers offense. This may be the breakout season many have expected from him, with Mike Martz now making the calls for this potential high-flying squad.

Shaun Hill through 5 TDs and only 1 INT in two game stint as the starter (winning both) late in the season. This position battle will likely not be decided until the after the third preseason game. Sullivan performed well in mini-camp but is a long shot. The eventual starter may have some fantasy value as a QB2 or QB3, with Mike Martz now calling the offense.

I was really hoping this wasn’t a blog spam, too.

fantasy rankings
Some of the other blogs had posted about this and I was going to as well once the 49ers were done (they’d only done a couple teams before). Guess the guy who runs the site got it up first.

I agree
After reading what Mike Martz had to say about Walker, there is a chance he could be more productive than the Duke. Either way, I think folks are underestimating the Niners from a fantasy prospective this year.

Don't waste a pick on Delanie Walker
I don’t see Wlaker making much of any impact this season. Martz offenses rarely ever feature a 2nd TE as a receiving threat. However, V. Davis should have a big year, both yardage and TDs.

walker/davis
Walker may not have a big year, but Martz has never had a pair of tight ends like these two…could make for an interesting permutation of his normal offense.

Walker and Davis
Ooooh! It just hit me right now we could possibly have the most intriguing pair of tight ends in Walker and Davis in the entire NFL. I agree with Fooch’s comment that it could some how expand Martz’s offense or make it more effective, or what I’d call it a more deadly offense.

Walker
I also think every team probably has someone on the roster the home town fans love even though he hasn’t done anything in the regular season. I’d love to see Walker and Davis both explode this year but I’m not holding my breath and I certainly won’t be spending a draft pick on Walker…

Don't pick him up
Walker is probably not worthy of a fantasy pick, which maybe warranted the 0 rating…. But, I know he’s at least going to have some more production than most believe. I think 2 TE set are real dangerous….remember that Walker actually used to be a WR, and has better hands than Davis. Martz is real excited about this guy. I think he’ll use Davis as a decoy on these 2 TE sets. Defenses will be forced to play Davis because he’s a huge mismatch. Of course that also means there would have to be a fair amount of in-game success with Davis, (as in making some catches and gaining some YAC) in order for defenses to respect Davis’ hands. I’m really excited to see what Martz can think up for these two.

Would you even need to draft walker?
I’m willing to bet that in most leagues (not populated by knowledgable niner fans), Walker will probably go undrafted, or fall to a very late round. I’d say he’s definitely worth a FA pickup, and probably worth a late-round selection.
This offense is going to be better than most think- Martz : Hostler :: Bach : Milli Vanilli

Cooley & Davis > Walker & Davis
Sorry but it’s true.

I agree
Cooley has already produced significant numbers and Davis has a lot of potential. For the 49ers, Vernon Davis produced decent numbers last year and Walker has some potential.

Sorry for the confusion
I wasn’t talking fantasy football when I mentioned a 2 TE set with Walker and Davis….I was just speaking on our actual offense. As far as fantasy goes…...did you forget about Antonio Gates, Heath Miller, or Tony Gonzales? A late pick could be someone like Boss from the Giants….he came out of nowhere and produced on the big stage. Personally I’m thinkin’ Dallas Clark / V.D. as a killer 2 TE set.

Let me clarify
Cooley & [Fred] Davis > [Vernon] Davis & Walker
Both Cooley and Fred Davis are on the Redskins much like how Vernon Davis and Walker are both on the 49ers.

Yes,
but Davis/Walker have more upside potential. Not something to bank on, but sort of exciting for us fans.
