Colvin?
So, from what I've been hearing, Cameron Colvin has been very strong in camp. He didn't get a lot of playing time against Oakland and I'm hoping to see him get some repetitions during the game on saturday. He caught one pass and ran for some good yardage, but the play was called back on a penalty. He hasn't proved himself quite like Josh Morgan appeared to against the Raiders, but Colvin is a very athletic guy. I hope he makes the team. What do you guys think his chances are of making the team?

Oregon time?
As a Ducks fan, can you tell us anything about Colvin? Since he’s so far down the depth chart we don’t hear a whole lot about him.

Colvin was the #2 receiver coming out of high school in 2004. He went to De La Salle high school and was a 5-star receiver. He chose Oregon to go with teammates Jackie Bates, Willie Glasper, and Terrence Kelly. Tragically, Terrence Kelly was shot and killed in Richmond, just days before leaving for fall camp. The loss of Kelly was devastating to Colvin and the other De La Salle Ducks. Colvin had a rough start, mainly due to his lack of focus, but nobody blamed him. He showed tons of promise through out his career, but he had numerous injury problems as well as attitude problems. By his senior year, he was being called a bust, but he finally started to have a great year in 2007, making all of the nay-sayers quiet. Just his luck, he tore his acl and his season was over.
Autzen was the first stadium to start calling black people "African Americans", ... instead of colored people. A true trailblazer.

Great athlete, average ball skills. Not the most intelligent guy on the field. Makes mental mistakes too much. Big, but does not seem to use it to his his advantages enough. In high school he was a freak playing on an outstanding team and was never really challenged. When the game became tougher in college, he did not seem to respond well.
That said, he has definitely shown flashes of being very, very good. He can make plays not many others can make due to his combination of athletic talents. If he could string together some consistent time on the field, along with developing consistency with his play, he could be very good.

Colvin
I don’t know a whole lot about him, but considering that Morgan is pressuring the coaching staff to give him a roster spot and there are players on the roster that have “some” cap ramifications tied to them, I find it a little difficult for Colvin to make the roster. I do, however, think that he will be retained for the practice squad if no one else picks him up.
Wide receiver is just a very crowded party for the 49ers. Bruce, Johnson, Battle, and Hill are probably locks. That leaves one or two slots open for the following: Lelie, Morgan, Colvin, Rabb, Ziegler, and Ortiz.

Colvin has a sad past and an injury history, but it’s hard to deny that he is a talent.
I hope the Niners do hold onto him.

depending if the Niners go 5 or 6 wideouts, his chances are pretty good.
Battle, Bruce, Johsnon, Lelie and Morgan are the only players that are ahead of him. his toughest challenge may be Hill, but I doubt that would be too much of a scare

Zeigler?
I think Zeigler’s ahead of Colvin as well. I’d definitely take Hill and Zeigler over Lelie and Colvin. Lelie has the talent but clearly he can’t stay healthy and I don’t see the upside anymore. Hill and Zeigler still have possible upside.
