Hello, Chad Pennington!
So Favre is leaving for Broadway which will probably leave Pennington jobless. Well Chad, let me first the first to welcome you to the Rice-A-Roni City. Seriously why wouldn't the Niners want Pennington? He's a playoff a quarterback who's throws about as hard as Tom Candiotte. Hello Super Bowl!
I mean we missed out on Jason Taylor, Brett Favre, Takeo Spikes, Zach Thomas, and Steve Smith. How can McNolan let Pennington get away? He can not.
FAIL.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

I really wanted the Niners to draft him way back in the day. Now he’s damaged goods. Pass.

We'll be hearing soon
I heard the Jets GM say on ESPN that they’d be announcing a trade by 4:00 today.

Sarcasm
I can’t tell if this was a sarcastic fanpost used as a preemptive strike against the inevitable posts concerning it, or if you’re actually serious, method. HTS, can you use your sarcasm meter here?

Well I don't really want a QB
who’s throws about as hard as Tom Candiotte
I should have spent a little more time but I was worried somebody would make a serious post about it before I finished.

That’s a brilliant idea. I’m all for it. Joe Montana, Steve Young, Chad Pennington!

LOL
I was ready to pounce on you for wanting Pennington but not Favre. The sarchasm didn’t hit me until the bitter end.

What the hell is sarchasm?
Is it a big gap of sars?

Think about it...
... it’s a chasm of sarcasm.

Chad
The Niners have their head under the covers, trapped in a dutch oven and pretending that it does not stink like S#!T… They are just sitting on their hands while the rest of the league passes them by and improves in order to compete.. worst of all i have to read fanposts by fans who are all too willing to stick their head under the covers and pretend the S#!T don’t stink.. Its ridiculous, how “They” or maybe some of you, say no to Brett Favre, no to Jeff Garcia, and just condone not improving. Look at the options now!! Chad Pennington.. how low is this team going to go this year, before “they” or maybe you realize, in the NFL you either get better or you DIE!! this year will be a carbon copy of last year, except the offense will improve slightly, after all their is no way in the world the offense can be as bad as last year.. is there?? god please bestow talent on a quarterback in San Francisco
by youngbuckeroo on Aug 7, 2008 5:43 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
What he's trying to say is...
... anyone who doesn’t think that any aging player(s) on the downside of his career could help the current incarnation of the 49ers has his/her head up in the clouds. People never really argued that Favre wouldn’t make the team better, but how much would he really help it?
I don’t want to open that can of worms again, youngbuckeroo, especially since he’s already gone. So if you don’t understand what people were saying, which obviously don’t, then perhaps you can go back and re-read the (probably) a dozen or so posts on the subject.
We’re all fans here, so of course we all want the team we like to win. There’s just a difference in opinion in what will bring those wins to the 49ers.

well, Pennington's no better than Smith
Even if you argue he’s a tad bit talented, he’s ALWAYS hurt. No thanks. That being said, you make a good point that people around these parts seem pretty content with the members of this team. I think they’re going to regret passing on Favre, I think he’s going to play out of his mind this year to prove himself outside of Green Bay.

People around these parts...
... are going to regret passing on Favre? If I’m not mistaken, the people around these parts really don’t have a say either way.

I love comments like this:
I think they’re (the fans) going to regret passing on Favre
The thing that cracks me up about comments like this is that I just, for the life of me, don’t remember that meeting we were all in, where McCloughan and Nolan asked us, “Hey guys, what do you think? Should we offer a draft pick or two for Brett Favre?”
I guess it’s possible they just didn’t invite me, in which case, maybe those of you who were staunch supporters of getting Favre should have spoken up more. Don’t blame the representatives of NN who gave the advice that we should pass on him. I blame those of you who said we should get him for not making a compelling enough argument.

dear Lord you guys take me way too literally
I’m sorry, I’ll spell it out more carefully for you:
I think the fans will wish the team had shown some interest in Favre and will regret their arguments that Smith could actually get this team to contention. When Smith’s contract is up, they will think, “Well it looks like the team wasted the past few years, I wish management had done something to bring in some more talent at the QB and/or WR position.”
Was that clear enough?

I knew what you meant
And my comment was geared exclusively towards you. It just always cracks me up to see people’s comments (such as youngbuckaroo’s) where they want to blame people on a blog for the team not getting a specific player. At least most of the people on this site are pretty reasonable, you and YB included. Many other websites don’t feature as reasonable a collection of souls as places like NN and McCC. But it will never cease to crack me up when I see someone say, “You guys are going to regret not getting this guy when you had the chance!” Because I never attended the meetings or the contract negotiations.

agreed
But as I’m sure we both understand now, when I said “they”, I meant the team, not the fans.

I will be the first to admit that if he fails in NY
Just as I’ll readily admit I thought the Giants should have taken a chance at Andruw Jones last year (albeit not at the price or years the Dodgers gave, but still)

Riddle:
I wear blue and white, I arrive to baseball games in the 4th inning, I leave in the 7th inning, my team's home stadium plays movie trailers between innings, I read magazines during the game, I play with beach balls, and I love the wave.
Who am I?
