How do you watch streaming video of the 49ers?

Before moving to San Francisco in 2003, I lived primarily in the greater Washington, DC metro area for much of the previous ten years. Living out there meant I was stuck with Washington Redskins games every weekend.

Over the past two weeks, a common refrain in the game thread topics is "Where can I watch the 49ers online?" If you can't find a large enough sports bar (with DirecTV), the Internet is the next best option for watching the 49ers. People have thrown out various suggestions and I wanted to use this FanPost as a way of bringing these suggestions together, in a similar vein as the Sports Bar thread.

People use everything from Justin.tv, to StoogeTV.com to TVUnetworks.com. I'd like to combine all the resources here, along with explanations for finding the game through that resource.

I'll use Justin.tv as an example:

Site: Justin.tv
Instructions: On the top of the front page, click on Sports; On the next page click on "American Football" on the left side of the screen.
Disclaimer: The site usually only includes 2 or 3 games on a Sunday. I watched a couple preseason games here, but have yet to see the 49ers available. Also, if you follow these instructions on a non-game day, the American Football section is likely to be empty.

So, if you routinely use another site, what I'd like you to do is post it in the comments. Also, rather than posting multiple options in one comment, post a single site option (such as Stoogetv.com) in a comment with instructions and details. If you know of another site, add it as a whole new comment. That way, if somebody has a question about a certain site they can respond to that specific comment and it keeps things clutter-free.

I'll post this as a permanent link on the left side of the front page as we go forward. Also, like the Sports Bar Thread, it will be included as a part of every game thread.

theres another site called myp2p.eu, although you have to download some software, its quick and easy. They have all the games on sunday and monday, and college football games on saturday as well

DO NOT USE THIS HERD OF TROJAN HORSES!!

If you downloaded this program then you probably have a variety of TROJANS- (Vundo.gen.k and virtumonde.dll/prx to name a few). Take this seriously. It laughed at my protective programs: McAfee, Spybot, Ad Aware, ZoneAlarm, Adblock and all the Microsoft protection. Yes, all of them. How do I know? I made the mistake of downloading this fucking program. This trojan will dig deap and fuck your operating system up. ‘HiJack This’, an eradication program I have used successfully before to get rid of (infectiously dug-in)Kazaa, couldn’t even get it out. I ended up having to erase and reload my whole Window’s Operating System. From now on, it is NFL.com and KNBR. GO NINERS!

Instructions: Basically, when you first get to the site you must create a profile (VERY simple process) by entering your name in the chatbox section marked as such, and clicking profile. It will then ask you to provide a new password. After you have created a profile, wait until about 5 minutes before game time and ask for a link to the game. They post links regularly, so if you miss it just keep waiting. The link will be to a Windows Media Player strea, but click quick! The links only last for 20 seconds before you have to request a new one.
Disclaimer: Most of the streams are of moderate to poor quality, though you can occasionally get a very good one. EVERY game is linked on Sunday (that I’ve seen so far), and that includes baseball, soccer, racing (INDY, Nascar, etc.), and other sports.

I went to that link and I didn’t have to create a profile or any of that stuff. Just look for the link to the game in the chat box. ( I think you might need a profile to chat and ask for the link, but if you just wait for a minute or two eventually they will post it back up or someone with a profile will request it.) Like Cruithear said, it’s a WMP stream and some of them are not so good quality, but still watchable. So far it seems like have every game on Sunday and alot of soccer.

Justin.tv has been 0/2 streaming 49er game.

I’m 2/2 with www.stoogetv.com, just going to “channels” and ask for a 49ers link and you’ll receive a pretty decent stream.

I’m no expert at this type of media however I thought I would mention this one. www.tvunetworks.com/ . I tried using it and didn’t have the success I expected. You have to download a program to use it. It seemed all show and no go for me. It does have a uninstall feature and they didn’t stick all kinds of nasty ‘stuff’ to my hard drive like Kazaa does.
Anyone get this to work?!

IF YOU DOWNLOAD A PROGRAM TO RUN A PLAYER

As you know from above, I had a horrible experience with the very horrible ‘Virtumonde’ (Vonde) virus after downloading a player from those bastards at myp2p. I did some dubious research to see how to get rid of it for everyone that might end up with the same problem. I researched, downloaded and ran SUPERANTISPYWARE.COM – FREE EDITION to to rid my computer of it this really nasty virus/trojan. It really worked for me and I hope you run it just for your safety.
