NFL Divisional Round Day 2 Open Thread

Yesterday certainly did not go quite like most people expected.  The Ravens win wasn't shocking, but the Cardinals?  Two people in our prediction contest went with the Cardinals and I bet even they are a bit surprised by the outcome.  It's been a while since I've seen a whuppin like that.  Jake Delhomme most definitely did not bring his A game.  After that first drive I figured Carolina would roll, but who'd imagine that would be the highlight of the game for them.

I find myself rooting for Philly, but fully expect the Giants to handle their business.  The teams did split the season series, but Philly's win came in a must-win for the Eagles and not so must-win for the Giants.  I just don't think Philly can pull this one out.  I don't expect McNabb to pull a Delhomme, but Jacobs, Ward and Bradshaw should be enough to take care of business.

People are thinking the Chargers can pull the road upset.  While the Arizona win shows anything is possible, I'm just not sure.  I think a lot of it will come down to how Roethlisberger performs following the Week 17 injury.  For the Chargers, Darren Sproles will need to step up big time given the likely loss of Tomlinson.  We'll see how far their momentum will carry them today.

It’s nice to see the officials really pushing for a Giants win.

I especially liked the announcer right after saying “I sometimes just don’t get what goes through that guy’s head,” as though McNabb is doing stupid stuff on a week to week basis. Yeah… right….

I think my least favorite thing about football broadcasters isn’t just how dumb they can be, but actually how much they just make up for the sake of a decent broadcast. I don’t ever hear announcers putting words or actions in player’s and coach’s mouths as much as I do watching a football game.

Joe Buck

It was Joe Buck and he’s the worst about it. He thinks the broadcast is all about him. A good play-by-play man does NOT do that.

F the Giants

I hate the Eagles, too, but not was much as I hate the F’in New Jersey Giants. Good riddance.

Now, go Cardinals!
