Did Someone Say Madden '09?
Obviously, any Madden gamer worth his salt can load a team full of FA talent and take the title year in and year out. I'm interested in people that set there team up realistically. For example...
I usually sign Spikes. Trade away Banta-Cain, Harris and Roman, along with some draft picks. I usually come out with Sheppard opposite Clements, and upgrades to the offensive line. Deihl and Dielman. I throw Goldston into my FS spot. My own little flare to an otherwise semi-realistic team occurs when i trade Alex Smith and a 4th Rounder for Colt Brennan. :)
So if you do work on Madden 09, if you have a patented strat, let us know.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

2 and 3 don’t follow from 1.

Yeah.
Realistically, you’d either be cutting or keeping those three. No one would really give up anything to bring in Harris, let alone the below average players like Banta-Cain and Roman.
To start, I think I kept all three on the roster. I just elevated other players in front of them like Haralson, Spencer and Goldson.
I trade Jennings for Daniel Manning Jr.
and play Goldson at the FS and its the best secondary in the league.
that’s all i do. im just that good at madden that i dont need to make any other artsy moves.

Sensitive Issue
My xbox 360 just came down with a case of the flashing red rings of death (again). I think my 3 year warrantee would have expired on my original machine in Feb. Anybody know if the warrantee covers the replacement unit that you get from your original unit having a hardware failure?
Call them
but if your system is an original first generation (there’s someway you can tell by your code on the back) you may have coverage until it dies. I’m not sure. When I had to send mine in a year and a half ago, (I got mine a week after release day) they “fied” it no problem no payment.

I know several people who have been RROD'd multiple times
Call. I think you’ll probably be okay.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
I tried that
It said something like my unit was already registered and then wouldn’t let me make a repair request. I called last night and got everything straightened out but talk about crappy timing, I got myself a bunch of DVD’s right after Christmas and when I try to play the first one my xbox is all RROD’d out.

PS3 is the ONLY system
Everything else is just a toy.

Trade for
Barring you had your roster updated:
-Jason Peters and make Staley a guard
-Make Haralson a DE and sign Suggs in FA if released
-Start Goldson ahead of Roman
-Sign Jones Drew in FA if released
-Sign Tom Brady in FA if released
-Sign Ocho Cinco in FA if released as well

I agree
but I still haven’t played NCAA since Madden came out.
All my friends are on Madden, and I feel like I’d fall behind the curve if I were to stop.
Also, you know what the most drastic difference is between the two? In-game stat updates. In Madden, they take up the entire screen, cannot be skipped, and are almost always irrelevant, annoying BS. In NCAA, they are just small text tabs over the scoreline, they usually relate to a recent play, and they are really only noticable when you’re looking for them.
It shocks me how every year, the little things are executed so much better in NCAA than they are in Madden.
I generally alternate year to year with the two
This was a NCAA year… next year I’ll get Madden.

NCAA
Overall gameplay beats the hell out of madden and it gets me down every year because im more of a fan of the pros.

hmmm
i sign spikes, trade smith, rossum and a pick for hester, orton, and a lower pick.
At USC we're not snobs, we're just better than you.
Chaun Thompson baby...
I don’t know how this works on other systems (Xbox, PS) but for the Wii (only console I own, not really big into consoles for the most part, but I’m not gonna say no to a gift), and when my girlfriend got me Madden 08 I definitely came around (my first Madden game and first football game since NFL Football ‘94 starring Joe Montana for Genesis). Now I’ve read different platforms work differently with awareness, but on the Wii version, you seem to get a pretty sizable boost at the end of each season. As such, I aquired MLB Chaun Thompson from the Browns (he was a 70ish OVR at the time), in maybe not a very realistic trade: D. Smith for Thompson, a 1st rounder, and some other pick. Anyway, by the time he got his awareness boost at the end of the season, he was just shy of 90 OVR I beleive). He’s fast, SPD=85 and is a really good complement to Willis at MLB. And the first season of Madden 08, he is only 26 I think.
I don’t know how he is treated stat wise in 09, but I would definitely check him out at some point.
