Playoff Prediction Games: Round 2
FOOCH'S NOTE 2:56PM: Don't forget to get your picks in. Even if you were knocked out of the playoffs, you can still take part in the free-for-all.
I think a lot of people were underwhelmed by the matchups of the Wild Card Round. The difference between the top two seeds in each conference and the bottom four was just so great that it felt more like a warmup for the real playoffs than it actually felt like playoff football.
Well, now we're into the REAL playoffs, where we'll see real teams like the Steelers, Titans, Giants, and Panthers. Anybody have the balls to pick the upsets? It almost seems foolish to even take the gambles, doesn't it?
REMEMBER: EVERYBODY CAN PLAY AND THE SCORES ARE STILL CLOSE.
Baltimore @ Tennessee - Sat., Jan 10, 1:30 p.m. PST
Arizona @ Carolina - Sat., Jan. 10, 5:15 p.m. PST
Philadelphia @ New York Giants - Sun., Jan. 11, 10:00 a.m. PST
San Diego @ Pittsburgh - Sun., Jan. 11, 1:45 p.m. PST
Enjoy round two everybody!
For the details on the Head-to-Head matchup, including the tiebreaker prediction, read after the jump:
HEAD-to-HEAD TOURNEY:

There're your matchups. As a simple reminder, you can expect an e-mail from Fooch. To get your scores in, you can either e-mail them to Fooch or post them directly into the thread. Either way is fine. Whatever you do, don't forget to make your "ultimate" tiebreaker prediction.
This weeks' ultimate tiebreaker is: NET YARDS IN THE SAN DIEGO - PITTSBURGH MATCHUP.

Picks
Baltimore @ Tennessee – 21-17
Arizona @ Carolina – 18-28
Philadelphia @ New York Giants – 20-24
San Diego @ Pittsburgh – 17-24
I'm picking the upset that I want to happen, not the one that I think will happen...
Baltimore @ Tennessee: 9 – 20
Arizona @ Carolina: 24 – 31
Philadelphia
@ New York Giants: 17 – 10 (I’ll actually be sad to see either team lose, and as long as I’m picking the Eagles I thought I’d be crazy about the score too)San Diego @ Pittsburgh: 14 – 30

What in the world? I definitely coded that right. Second time this week SB has gone crazy on me about a simple text code.
Oh well, for anybody keeping track, I have Philly in that game.

Also I don’t think we can really tie, so I don’t think It’s going to come down to tie-breakers.

There are ways we can tie
but I think you’re right in that it wont go that far.
Best of luck anyway.
by Ninerfromacrossthepond on Jan 10, 2009 9:25 AM PST up reply actions
Best of luck to you to
but I’ve been meaning to ask, what pond are you across from us? The bay, the pacific, or the Atlantic? I know it may seem like a dumb question but a guy in my yahoo league also used “across the pond”, and he was from England.

“Across the pond” is a figure of speech for the Pacific as it relates to the distance between the USA and England.

That's what I thought but just wanted to make sure...
Also I think you mean the Atlantic, not the Pacific

I think you are
cos I make my raw score 14 and yours 20 which makes game 1 mine.
COME ON!!!
Oh yeah, I am from England.

Hold up,
I thought since I was only 3 points away from the Titans score and 10 points away from the Ravens, my raw score was 13 and yours was 14?
BTW, thanks I was curious about the name

plus
You factor in the difference in terms of the final score difference. You predicted a 10 point difference between baltimore and tennessee and it finished as a 3 point difference, that’s where the 7 additional points comes from.

StrictlyFootball - 3rd place
It looks like Ninerfromacrossthepond won. If that’s the case, StrictlyFootball, don’t forget that there is a 3rd place game (with what looks to be albertoleecho). The winner of that also qualifies for a prize.

unreal
as far as I can tell we tied with a raw score of 8 on the Bal game, and both got the other two completed games wrong. In this last game we have the same point diff so if Pit wins and the total score is >41 I’ll win, and at 41 it will be a tie. Total yardage needs to be >537 for me to take the tie break.
Still defending Rich Aurilia, and the Niners' classic unis
I win!
I think. Another lucky-for-me, close matchup. Good game albertoleecho.
