Josh Cribbs anyone?

Hell yeah
We need this guy. The offense isn’t high-octane so having short fields to work with will greatly help this offense. I don’t now how his recieving skills are but they can only be a plus along with his return skills.

Cribbs and Quinn
For Alex Smith and a 3rd rounder.
by mountaindew77 on Oct 15, 2009 11:15 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Maybe
but I see the Browns trying to get rid of Quinn for something..
Plus we are gonna need a 3rd QB.

Garcia could be had for less money than Quinn's contract...
Sure, he’s probably washed up, but so is Quinn.

Garcia?
Poor guy.
He’s about as old as Brett Favre.
You would think he’s tired by now and wants to retire.

I'd take Garcia over Quinn and possibly Hill right now. He isn't as big of a passing liability

The 49ers already have 3 QBs

I went to college in Ohio for the past 4 years.
i guarantee you that the browns are not looking to trade Brady Quinn. No way, not now, not ever. It would be similar to how we are holding out hope in chilo to do something at OL, but he isn’t panning out. we aren’t willing to trade him yet because we put lots of hope in him, but we are praying he pans out. If Quinn doesn’t start again this year and in the offseason I can see them maybe trading him, but not now, no way. People in Cleveland love him way too much!

Quinn?!
Why so he can be a bay area model. That guy wasn’t even good in college. You can’t bench press a spiral.

first 3 thoughts in my head...
Cribbs would not be a “weapon” on anything but special teams…but that would be nice to have.
He is exactly what Rossum was, only he “also-plays” on the other side of the ball.
…and don’t we already have 31 wr’s on the roster??

…and don’t we already have 31 wr’s on the roster??
But all of those WRs are essential to our run-first mentality!

3rd round pick or less
And he replaces Spurlock on the roster.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
by SpurredOn on Oct 16, 2009 12:55 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
that is what i was thinking...
we need a legit kick returner for years to come… or even roscoe parish.

Replace Spurlock?...
But how will we ever do the Taser without him? haha.

Run it with Cribs
He’s one of the more successful areas of Cleveland’s O, though it is minimal!

$ better spent elsewhere, like the O-line

$
That’s not an issue dude.
The team has one of the best salary cap situations in the NFL.

Better situations?
Sure. But it didn’t get that way by inheriting other people’s salary baboons.

Not saying he is...
… per se. I’m saying the “$ is not an issue” comment is a bad approach. I may have misunderstood you, though. Were you just saying the Cribbs just isn’t worth a lot?
by sfgfan on Oct 20, 2009 10:28 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
No way, what are some of you saying
Why did we just lose Rossum? Rossum had the best season of his career last season with us. Now we replace him with someone thats only slightly better that him, for any type of cost. The price is right is going to have to be extremely low. Considering how many WR’s we have and how many receptions each of them get, it makes even less sense to get someone that will finish with like 5 receptions on the year.
I know return game is important, and I think we blundered by getting rid of Rossum, but now we need a player to step up that can play other positions and be the return man.
Battle had a punt return for a touchdown before, and I really like him to help out at WR and block as a WR. Hopefully Spurlock can get a chance and surprize everyone as an excellent return with agility, I just don’t see Walker or Robinson return kicks and making quick cuts to dodge people.
by fortyniners on Oct 16, 2009 4:46 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
We didn't blunder by getting rid of him, he has lost a step.
Our blunder was not drafting a KR/PR or picking one up in FA. We let him go without a replacement, and to have our 2nd TE when we only have 2, be our KR guy is ridiculous. Cribbs is an upgrade over Rossum in Punt adn KR!

Battle also muffed two punts in one game.
The return game isn’t important?
Every 10 yards the return guy gets is ten yards that the offense doesn’t have to work for.
Considering how bad the offense is, we need all the yards we can get from the return game.
I don’t care if Cribbs doesn’t contribute on offense (Spurlock doesn’t and he still has a roster spot).
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Your last sentence

by SpurredOn on Oct 16, 2009 10:14 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
we have a bunch of useless WR's
the coaching staff doesn’t like spurlock for just about anything, J. Hill is in the same boat.
Battle and Walker CAN return punts/kick offs but that doesn’t mean that should be our best option.
and for you talking about Oline help, do you see any Oline players on the block? or even free agency???
i’m tired of this Oline talk… there isn’t anyone available, and we have money to spend next year and picks… and i’m not ok with using a pick on someone that we will probably get that has passed their prime.

Or Roscoe Parrish
The Niners could use either and I’d be an advocate of who ever is the cheapest.

Thank you Al Davis for Michael Crabtree!!!!!

I wouldn't trade picks in rounds 1-3 on anyone this draft is too deep
I am on record saying I’d trade for Peppers or Merrimen if they were real cheap and they won’t be so forget it. This draft will be a deep one!

Josh Cribbs
is one of the best return men playing the game today. He is worth a 3rd round pick, period. Definitely not for Alex Smith. Alex Smith has one up on Brady Quinn too. We need help on the return team bad. Let’s go get em.
by STELF BOMBZ on Oct 17, 2009 12:24 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
1) Trade Jason Hill and a 3rd rounder for Josh Cribbs. (Crabtree, Bruce, Morgan, Jones make up our receiver core. Keep Spurlock for umm.. the Taser and backup KR/PR. Jason Hill is the odd one out)
2) Trade Carolina’s 1st rounder back to Carolina for Julius Peppers.
Win Superbowl.

Because a 30 year old guy that has never played OLB in a 3-4 scheme is worth a top 10 pick….yeah right.

Wonder if we could get him for..
Alex Smith, Spurlock and Jason Hill and maybe a 6th? Nah probably not enough. Depends how bi***y he is getting about his contract and such.
That would give us a WR group of Bruce, Crabs, Morgan, and Jones, and Cribbs and Battle. With Cribbs and Walker and Robinson on the return team not too shabby. I’d toss Battle in for any of them pretty willingly.
