49ers Fine Jean Francois And Some Other Notes
Mike Singletary has fined rookie Ricky-Jean Francois and undisclosed amount and is vowing to "run him until he can't walk"
In separate news a radio report from KNBR has said the 49ers are interested in two players leading up to Tuesday's trade deadline. DE- Corey Williams of the Cleveland Browns and LB- Derek Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs. It is said that the Browns are looking for players not draft picks in regards to their available players, most likely WR's. Jason Hill comes to mind of course. Williams signed a 6Y-38MD contract with the Browns a few years back but hasn't done much in 2009 (9 tackles and 1 sack), Derek Johnson a 1st round pick from Texas 3 years back has seen his numbers and playing time fall in 2009 and new coach Todd Haley looks to make his imprint on Kansas City. Tank Tyler was traded earlier today to the Panthers for a 5th round pick in 2010. Haley is said to be looking to clear out most of Hermen Edwards defensive draft picks and Tyler was the first to go but according to reports not the last. No further information regarding the 49ers interest in Josh Cribbs, it is said that Cleveland has to be blown away by an offer for him, they are said to be looking for a 3rd round pick and a skill position player. Could the Niners still make a play for him in a package with Corey Williams?

trades
I’m not expecting anything to happen, but definitely some interesting names out there.
The trade deadline is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1pm pacific time. I’ll have an open thread up for folks to go to town on discussions.
yea i'm with you...
i don’t think anything is going to happen trade wise… if anything it won’t be a serious acquisition.
hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Why would we want either of those defensive players?
They play on awful teams and (to my knowledge) have no history of individual success.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
Derrick Johnson
I’m all for acquiring Johnson if it’s for a later round draft choice. The guy is/was a physical specimen that I’d be interested in seeing what he could do in San Francisco. I think it’s a low-risk situation if it’s for a later round pick, as he is probably only under contract for the remainder of this season and the next.
Actually...
Upon further review, it looks like his contract may be up at the end of this season. IF that’s the case, I’d much rather the 49ers wait and acquire him on the cheap in free agency.
What happened with RJF?
Haven’t heard his name much, I thought he’d be able to contribute on the defensive line
And what was this Fine for?
