NFL want's the 49ers to drop tampering charges!
God i wish you could open this post up for cursing!
Fooch's Note: If this turns out to be true it certainly is rather annoying. If you feel the need to curse, count to 10 before typing....it works for me!

Yeah, hell no.

Yeah, the NFL must of found something pretty damning against the Jets for them to ask the Niners to drop the charges. I’m guessing the NFL doesn’t want their East Coast darling to get a smack to their rep.

Go forward with the charges
More aggressively than ever.
Don't worry about me Thurgood, I'll be fine. The robbery is what's important now.

LOL?
Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

this is ridiculous
of course this is all sources and speculation so there’s no reason to believe any of it. That being said, if it is true, the NFL is really off their rocker. The Jets tampered, they should be punished.
A hearty thank you to Rich Aurilia for all the good memories, and to the Niners for finally getting the uni's (mostly) right.

Seriously. If the NFL is seriously asking the 49ers to drop the charges, and it’s all out in the open that the LEAGUE requested they drop it, how does it help the image of the NFL and/or the Jets at all?

This is outlandishly disrespectful of Godell. He is a hypocrit
after all, the league made an example out of the Niners for talking to agent Drew Rosenhaus about a long-term contract for linebacker Lance Briggs at a time when the Bears were talking to the Niners about a trade for Briggs),
We’re discussing a long term deal while amid discussions of acquiring a player, and we take a hit. The New York Jets have to get what’s coming to them. If York decides to close this accusation than it’s a slap in the face of the teams and the fans. Crabtree did sit out 4 games and now he has been abruptly placed in the starting lineup. So we have a signed contract cover-up. We have Deion Sanders on an NFL network making the tampering evident, and the let’s get her done from the Crabtree camp. If York suspends this he’s an idiot. In a draft this deep we definitely could benefit from an earlier pick than naturally scheduled. (Site decorum) the NFL for asking this of us. I say hell to the (site decorum) naw on this issue. This is BS, and a whole lot of it. So what it looks bad. We have Rex Ryan chomping at the bit, and we should walk away, this is the one and only time i would 100 percent be the perfect owner for this team.

sounds like league is saying...please drop charges
I don’t see it happening since league came down on us pretty hard for LESS than the Jet’s did to us. I say keep on pushing it. Make the league either stand up to a NY team or force them to sweep it under the rug ruining their credibility.

We got made an example of..
For something that occured while actually talking to the team in question. This isn’t like the Patriots filming signals which gives one team an advantage over another—if the Jets indeed tampered with Crabtree that’s giving all 31 teams an advantage over another, being cheated out of a first round (and a top ten) pick.

I think the Niners will drop the charges just like the Bears did when Lance Briggs re-signed there.

We were penalized though?
So how did the charges get dropped. When charges are dropped there is no penalty!

Money Talks and [SiteDecorum] Walks
They want the Niners to drop the charges? We need refs on our side for a change. If the rules are up for sale and open to interpretation, then that’s a deal I’d make…

Actually
First of all, this is Mike Florio reporting from under his aluminum foil hat.
But if it is true…

Agreed
Folks have got to consider the source on a story like this. Florio loves to be a controversy monger, so he’ll post about the speculation from sources that aren’t necessarily well-placed.
And note the terms in which the source puts his speculation:
The source firmly believes that the investigation was beginning to uncover evidence that the Jets had indeed tampered with Crabtree through his agent, Eugene Parker.
I can firmly believe things that originate from my own analysis of a situation, and when looked at under this rubric, the claim that the tampering charges will or should be dropped looks to have little behind it. I firmly believe that.

I think we can all agree on this.
This shouldn’t even be a discussion…if it is true.
“The source firmly believes that the investigation was beginning to uncover evidence that the Jets had indeed tampered with Crabtree through his agent, Eugene Parker. "
Sounds like they are saying well niners eventually things worked out so please don’t make the league look bad.
If we don’t push this, then it is like the NFL saying it is ok to cheat and tamper. I’m sure it happens all the time in the NFL, but if they got us why should we turn a blind eye to it?
I wonder if the league ever asked the bears to stop the briggs incident.
BS guys, complete bs…push it, push it hard.

This article is 9 days old,
I’m guessing that since the 49ers didn’t drop the charges, they aren’t going to.

How ridiculous.
The NFL made of an example of the 9ers with Briggs.. But they want us to drop these charges? Unacceptable Roger Goodell.

They can kiss my *!!! How the the hell is this the best intersest in the league when you tamper with a 1st round draft pick this is bs. Jed better give them hell.

[site decorum] YOU GOODELL ... I hope the niners pursue this...
I don’t understand how one of the elite franchises of the NFL can be made an example and cost us two picks… and a laughable franchise (drafted 1-5 for six years straight) can be babied by the league and not pursue this… tampering happens every year but they blew the whistle on us in Goodell’s first year… again [site decorum] YOU GOODELL!!!
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.
by bayboy on Oct 20, 2009 5:57 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
For the record no cursing stinks… but more on topic… Godell can’t just slap tampering charges on us and then a couple years later decide they aren’t in the best interest of the league
Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.

F That!
Give us Mark Sanchez, take Alex Smith and we’ll drop the charges. Had Crabtree held out and went into the draft we would lost him for nothing. We don’t get him until week 6. Our offense is 30th in passing and they want us to drop the charges. Tax the Jets just for Rex Ryan’s response alone.

Old News.
Tampering case is still moving along.

Not just no, but H*** NO!!!
The league made an example of the niners a couple of years ago, hold one of the sacred East coast teams accountable as well!! Taking a few of the Jets draft picks away might wipe that smug look off of Rex Ryan’s face, if his golden boy’s interceptionpalooza last Sunday already hasn’t.
