Week 6 NFL Power Rankings and the 49ers
It's always interesting to see how power rankings shape up after a team's bye week. The prior week win or loss is allowed to marinate and the bye week games certainly can have an impact. This week's composite rankings reflect some of that marinating. The 49ers actually moved up on average from 14.78 to 14.22. We'll call it the Crabtree/Gore effect. On the other hand, the Cardinals road win over Seattle caused them to skyrocket. They jumped 5 spots from 18.11 to 13.11.
One particular ranking though jumps out as proof of how little "experts" sometimes know. Or maybe it's more like how much they actually care. NFL.com has three "experts" who provide their rankings. Vic Carucci moved up Arizona as would be expected following their win. However, Seattle losing at home resulted in them actually staying in the same rank the last two weeks. I realize these are just subjective power rankings, but that strikes me as either lazy or idiocy. I'm not sure which, but I'd imagine Mr. Carucci doesn't want either.

I’m a Smith apologist, but if that isn’t an indictment of the QB situation, I don’t know what is.

Who the hell thought that?

Who the hell thought that?
Many fans still do, thinking the 49ers are going to sweep the division and all.

I do think the niners will at worst go 5-1 in the division
but since our game is at home against the cards I think we probably will sweep

Eh.
If the Cardinals continue to improve overall while the 49ers’ offensive line doesn’t play better, I don’t see how they can win against Arizona, home or away. Do remember that Arizona did beat the 49ers in San Francisco last year, too. Arizona started last year hot, and seem to be heating up this time, too.
Similarly, Seattle is kind of an unpredictable team right now, but they’re going to be tough (especially at home).
I just don’t think it’s going to be a cake walk, even to 5-1. If they want to get there, that offensive line seriously needs to step up and play.

We had that game last year
I was there. Was one of the most exciting yet dissapointing games I have ever been to.
I blame Martz for the goaline dive play with Michael Robinson for the loss. It not like AZ smoked us. We in fact had momentum for a majority of that game. It was very quiet in that stadium up until the 4th QTR.

I was there also
One of the most heartbreaking things I’ll ever live through. Second to the Vikes game of course… GDYF

I was sitting on the opposite side
of the field in the North endzone. So from where I was sitting before they showed the replay on the scoreboard, it looked like nobody touched Gore when he fell and then crawled to the endzone. Me and my bro were going crazy and a couple other Niner fans in our section… Then after the dissapointing replay, they send in Robinson and I for sure thought screen or short pass. Nope, Robinson to jump the pile? I was like “Wow”. Couldn’t believe it.

Yeah I was sitting on behind the Cardinal bench
on the opposite side so I didn’t get a good look at it. But yeah I was pissed when they ran ROBINSON into the pile. I was calling for Martz’s head. Oh man I was not happy. Nobody in that stadium thought the Cardinals were gonna stop them from scoring.

Yeah.
Because a “Niners fan” has to “RAHRAHSHISHBOOMBAH THE 49ERS ARE GINNA OWN TEH TEXANS1”
Please. The 49ers are a flawed team, and just because I realize that, it doesn’t make me any less a fan than someone who wants to blindly believe the 49ers are on top of the world. Get over yourself.

A really odd comment considering your very last comment before this. I posit that, in fact, you are not a Niners fan and you should go root for the Raiders.

"Experts"
Who like to make declarative statements that they can then protest against weeks later. I think some were just hoping to not need to pay attention out west this year.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.

Remeber last year...
how many times the Niners turned the ball over? If I remember correctly, it was about 5 or 6 and JTO was the cause of a lot of them. That was a game that the Niners could have won if it hadn’t been for all the turnovers. I agree that Arizona has gained momentum but this isn’t the same team as last year. Hill may not be great but he is nowhere near as bad as JTO was. I think it’s gonna be one of those games that comes down to who makes the most mistakes. I feel it’s gonna be more like the MNF game last year that came down to the final play.

It seems
like every time we play them on MNF it turns out to be a really good game.
