Time to panic???
Like most niners fans im looking forward to see the niners come back after that horrible loss two weeks prior, and as i read all these posts about the match up i think like the falcons alot of us are underestimating the Texans. Before this weeks match up i didn't pay a lot of attention on the Texans but somewhere all along i knew they had talent. As the week approach all i could think about was how it was going to be crabtrees first game and how he would play. When i started doing research on the Texans i saw alot of scary similarities between the Falcons and texans starting with the Qb. Matt Schaub just happens to be leading the nfl in touchdown passes after not throwing one his first game, and boy has he been on fire passing for 6 Tds these last two games. His last game he lit up the opponents secondary for 4 passing Tds and 392 yards, if that doesn't surprise you it came against a then hot team the Bengals. Lets also not forget one of the best wideouts in the game today Andre Johnson leading the NFL in receiving yards and his sidekick Jacobey Jones who already has 3 td receptions this year, combine that with a stud tight end Owen Daniels who has 374 yards and 4 Tds. Their running back Steve Slaton is also one of the better backs in the NFL who last year rushed for 1,282 yds and 9 rushing tds, and even though hes had a slow start i wouldn't keep my eyes of this guy as he is a quality runner who is definitely dangerous out in the open. Adding this up and what do we have?? A very very dangerous team that in my view has a better offense than the falcons and if the niners defense doesn't show up for the second week in a row, i think were in some major problems. I just hope the coaches have been paying more attention to the texans than Crabtree because we all know the niners are not good at playing catch up. Then again i think this will be one of the most important games of the season because if we lose three straight (Falcons, Texans, Colts) we are gonna be in some major momentum problems towards the playoffs. That said i think this is the real GPS game so hope we come out of this with a victory or at least stay in the game and make it a close one because if they dont have an answer for the Texans Offense Its gonna be another long day in the Lone Star State.

I dunno
Its time for excitement, not panic.
Reading posts the past 2 weeks made me feel more that the Texans are a respectable team and we were worrying about it the whole 2 weeks, not just realizing at the last minute. We are defintely not underestimating them like we did Atlanta. The majority saying was that Atlanta should be a good game, but definetly a win. There’s been lots of commentary that even optimistically speaking, this will be an extremely hard game.
I think we’ve seen about Schaub, A.Johnson, and Slaton among others. Plus their extremely strong Linebacker core. Plus they are in that 3-3 phase and just like us fighting to get into the top tier.
So the whole time I thought it’s exciting that we have the challenge to face a team like this but the pressure is on them because they are the favorites, even though it’s hard to predict this game because we had a bye week and obviously our team is different than 2 weeks.
I expect a loss I think their offensive firepower will be too overwhelming for the lack luster DB's in SF

Good thing you are positive. One bad game takes our DBs from really good to lack luster?

I've always thought they were.......Even before the season

Panic isn't really productive
But if we don’t get our run blocking sorted out, it’s going to be a long season.
Our defense should be able to hang with most teams.
But losing this game isn’t that big a deal – it merely makes our Nov 12 game against Chicago huge.
From a Texans perspective....
You guys have a very good front 7. This entire game will hinge on their ability to get to Schaub and at least make him hurry up and make bad throws.
If Schaub has time to sit in the pocket, the Niners just won’t be able to genreate enough offense to win.
Now you have Patrick Willis. The man is a freak and he HAS to have a stellar day. If Willis goes off, then your defense has a shot to keep it close.
The Texans defense on the other hand has been playing very well the last three games. The biggest imporevment is the halftime adjustment phase of the game.
In the last three games, the Texans defense has not allowed any points…..at all.
In the first half however, they are giving up between 17 and 21 points to the card and bengals offenses. So the question will be, can the Niners manage to put up enough points in the first half to make it through the second half?
My gut feel is that the Niners are a strong defensive team, but that is not going to be enough to put up a “W” this weekend.
That said, you have had 2 weeks of rest and preperation, so that is in your favor.
You have Crabtree in the lineup finally, and he has the ability to take over a game IF Shaun Hill can get him the ball. Hill is the thing that I believe will hold Crabtree back this year.
Should be fun to watch. I just saw an interview with Bernard Pollard and Dunta Robinson in our defenseive backfield who both said they “looking forward to welcoming th rookie to the NFL.”
That will be a fun set of matchups to watch all day.
My final analysis:
1st Quarter: Niners 10 Texans 10
2nd Quarter: Niners 17 Texans 20
3rd Quarter: Niners 20 Texans 27
4th Quarter: Niners 23 Texans: 34

Can't say that makes much sense to me
So you’re expecting to score more points than last week against a team with a better defense?
Don't worry about me Thurgood, I'll be fine. The robbery is what's important now.
Yes I am.
You have a better RUN defense.
Your pass defense is suspect at best.
We are a passing team.
We are going to light up your secondary.

Your pass defense is suspect at best.
Ouch, you sure about that? Basing it off of one game?
I will take our DB’s 10 days out of the week versus the Bungals DB’s. Like I said… do not let the 20th ranked Pass D fool you. It was heavily skewed by Roddy White… You guys don’t exactly have a speedster like him. If our DB’s can run with ‘em, they can cover ’em. We aren’t just a RUN defense; we were 4th OVERALL before Atlanta.
Also, consider the fact that your O-line is not the greatest…Schaub will feel the pressure all day tomorrow much like Warner did the first game of the year
Our O-line is not the greatest, but that's in the run game.
They have done an excellent job of pass protecting this season.
I’m sure your pass defense is better than the Atlanta game indicated. I think we can all agree that the game was a bad showing for your D and not representative of their overall ability.
However, we have a much better receiving corp than Atlanta and if they can find ways to exploit weaknesses in your secondary, you can be sure Matt Schaub will find some weaknesses as well.

Dont base a team on a 1 game performance
I could just as easily do the same thing to the Texans against the Jets. I could say you only put up 6 points and based on that your offense is horrible… Doesn’t work like that. If you have watched every Niner game, I think you would have a very different opinion than:
Your pass defense is suspect at best.
AND
We are going to light up your secondary.
Sure those are just your opinions and cannot be factual statements until they actually are but all I will say is don’t think that we cannot cover the pass based off of a crappy outing against Atlanta.
Teams have bad games. You should know that based off Houstons performance versus the Jets
Dude, our pass defense has been garbage for years.
The only reasons that it’s been any less than terrible this season are the emergence of Shawntae Spencer and because we’ve actually managed to form some semblance of a pass rush.
Nate Clements is still a threat to get beat deep on every play, Dashon Goldson has been only marginally better than Roman of recent years, Michael Lewis (who may or may not even see significant time in this game) is pretty bad against the pass, and Houston’s aerial attack is about as good as any in the league not led by Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
I expect Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter, Owen Daniels and Matt Shaub to have big games on Sunday.

Me too, Schaub and AJ are on my fantasy team. It’s going to be a tough day. I want the Niners to shut them down, but my fantasy team badly needs a good week as well.

You Suck 49erlou
you are not a fan of the great 49ers, go play with your fantasy
Why?
I started Steve Slaton.
I wasn’t rooting for him, but when he scored his TDs I at least took refuge in the fact that it was him that scored the TDs.
I was, however, happy that he fumbled….cost me a point but gave the 49ers 7.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Yeah, you're way off base.
Sure, you put up 28 points on the Bengals without their best pass-rusher in Antwan Odom. But you’ll see what I mean.
Don't worry about me Thurgood, I'll be fine. The robbery is what's important now.
Well it's the 2nd quarter.....what am I supposed to see again?

Sounds like by your final analysis you predict this as a shootout
Which if we lose a shootout then that’s ok. If we score 23 points, while I won’t be happy I will be to a degree pleased. You’re talking about less than two touchdowns. I think the texans are feeling their oats kinda like SF did and might not be as spectacular and I feel that the 9ers are thinking Dang it we can do this. At the very least it will give us a lot of pointers as far as how the 9ers are doing and let us see things. Gore is back and Crabs is in. Crabs is in for his first game and Gore is still recovering so those need to be balanced. A win or a loss is what we have on the books at the end of this game. I think it will be a good one.

If The Texans Score 34 Against San Francisco
I will run around at work in texans diapers over my tight purple jeans and take a picture for all to see on here. This means it isn’t going to happen.

It's not about the Texans
It’s about the Niners focusing on theyre needs such as the need for blocking for whoever starts at QB and finally open some holes for Glen Coffee!!!!!!!!!!
The Niners will never know how really good he is if he keeps getting handed D-linemen at the same time he is handed the ball!!!!!!!

panic?
sure why not. I little healthy panicing is good for the heart, especially if you are a 350 lb. lineman.
