San Francisco 49ers @ Houston Texans: Thread #2

    49ers_logo_medium @ Th_texans_icon_medium

It's safe to say that the first game thread was not a good thread.  The 49ers find themselves trailing 14-0.  The defense has played well enough, but the Arnaz Battle fumbled punt was doomed to lead to a touchdown.  We'll see if this new thread can mix things up a little bit.

GO NINERS!

If you had a lineup of 9 Jack Custs who hit(Cust career average) .239 AVG, .382 OBP, and .475 SLG, then your team would score 6.12 runs per game-totalling to 991runs a season. The 08 rangers lead the majors in runs score with 901.

Hill really kill you guys.

Exactly, a good qb can make up for alot.

You have three good weapons in Gore, Davis and Crabtree. But who cares what the weapons are if the guy running the offense can’t get it going.

Get a good qb and you guys are a whole different team.

This masound crazy but if were Singletay I would draft a qb then BRING IN FAVRE for a year and let the rookie learn behind him.

Last 3 games Texans Defense has allowed 140 yards rushing TOTAL and ZERO points in the second half.

Again, noone wants to believe it but the Texans D is NOT the same defense that was maligned at the beginning of the season.

They worked out the personnel and scheme issues.

the USC defense would shut us down

If you had a lineup of 9 Jack Custs who hit(Cust career average) .239 AVG, .382 OBP, and .475 SLG, then your team would score 6.12 runs per game-totalling to 991runs a season. The 08 rangers lead the majors in runs score with 901.

I hate to say it

But it’s time to bench Shaun Hill I think. This offense isn’t doing anything, what can the defense do when always coming out on the field?

Yes, Jimmy Raye’s play calling sucks, but Shaun Hill can’t do a damn thing. I realize the O-Line sucks too, but again Hill is playing like garbage. At least we’ll have two decent first round picks next season, and hopefully a wiser, better Nate Davis under center.

Let’s see Alex Smith start the second half at QB!

by Andrew Davidson on Oct 25, 2009 11:22 AM PDT reply actions

it's a long story

I was in a Crisis Ward for 3 Weeks, and was just discharged on Thursday Night. That’s about as much as I’d like to get into regarding details of where I’ve been at the moment.

by Andrew Davidson on Oct 25, 2009 11:33 AM PDT up reply actions

but why bench hill?

I know it’s a cliche’ but it is true: the O-Line is SO FUCKING IMPORTANT to an offense. Look at the Giants/Pats/Saints/Colts etc. Alex smith won’t do anything to help us win and is much more prone to turning the ball over

If you had a lineup of 9 Jack Custs who hit(Cust career average) .239 AVG, .382 OBP, and .475 SLG, then your team would score 6.12 runs per game-totalling to 991runs a season. The 08 rangers lead the majors in runs score with 901.

Alex Smith

At least has an arm, and at least has mobility (Hill has a bit of mobility, but not near Smith’s). Alex Smith may be more prone to turning the ball over, but the number of 3 and Outs with Hill under center is far more than the number of TOs Smith could “potentially” make.

I’d like to see a QB that can make crisp passes, even if it means he’ll throw an INT once and a while. Hill has been terrible and even without a high TO rate, we’ve been getting crushed. Maybe it’s too early to press the panic button, but I’m sick of Hill proving all the nay-sayers right.

no internet first half

probably a good thing…. I might’ve been kicked off the site for use of foul language.

Niners have no chance if without a QB who can throw. I love Shaun Hill’s character, but I’m off the bandwagon too. How bad is Smith if they won’t put him in even after Hill’s last six quarters?

Putting Niners fleece away to closet-

I’m sick of this – I’m no freakin bandwagoner, but I’m just a severely disgusted fan with this team that has no desire to watch this anymore or for weeks to come unless REAL changes are made. This talk and no action is sickening, and it reminds me of the sh*t thats been going on for the last 6 damnable years – might be checking in for one last look in the 4th, but I’m not expecting anything to change. The Niners don’t deserve any props, playoffs, or championships this year – to heck with this.

I hate to take this shitty performance out on Hill

It isn’t just him. But in these stressful situations, his passing gets worse. Doesn’t throw well with pressure.

Last spring they gambled on Marvel Smith and took Crabtree instead of a lineman.

They need at least a right tackle and a right guard now, and there’s no chance of finding them for the rest of the year.

Raye’s conservative offense would have been better with an offensive line. Everyone in the Niners’ offices know how badly their personnel sucks. So maybe we should be talking about McCloughan being replaced.

Hopefully the threat of the pass will open up Gore for some big gains.

Smith

If Smith leads another scoring drive I do believe that we should start him. He’s got the arm to go downfield which we need. The arm strength on Hill is suspect and Davis can run deep routes very well and we need to get it to him.

Some things to be optimistic about...

We all know this isn’t a Super Bowl team, but you have to love the Vernon Davis breakout with Crabtree. This could be a dangerous offense later this season and next year with a healthy Gore.

Team still needs a change of pace back though.

Rays in '08.... Desmond Jennings - the breakout continues.....
