Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

This was mentioned in the Panthers recap thread but I thought I'd pull it out given our ongoing Panther Watch. John Fox wouldn't commit to Delhomme for next week, which is not exactly shocking. Delhomme is on pace for 35 interceptions and the Panthers are playing like crap. Matt Moore and AJ Feeley aren't all that good, but could they be any worse?

I hate ate hate hate hate this decision

They have to go back to him, we need this pick to be great, whether we use it or trade it we can set ourselves up great for the future with Delhomme doing his thing. A J Feely would probably be the least likely QB I’d want to see at the helm. I was hoping this decision was made when they face TB so they could sneak out a win.

Yeah, I really don't get what this does for them

I know Delhomme is horrible this year, but he had a great year last year. I think they’ve got bigger problems with that team than Delhomme.

Could they be any worse?

Certainly. JaMarcus Russell could be, or by DYAR, Mark Sanchez, not to mention the tons of guys in the league who are only good until they step on the field.

If the Panthers truly thought they have their Quarterback of the Future in Moore (which is unlikely) I’m not sure what this gets them, the upside with Delhomme (given his past performance) seems far higher then Feeley or Moore.

Delhomme is on pace for 35 interceptions

Bwahahahahaha!!!! I hadn’t realized he already has 13 picks this year!!!! Unbelievable!

That said, I’m honestly not sure if playing Matt Moore or Feeley gives the Panthers any better chance. They’ll probably throw less picks (they almost have to) but it’s not like they are any good. Delhomme has at least made some plays downfield to help offset the picks. I guess it’s worth a try for them though.

+1

No idea why the NFL feels the need to step aside for baseball. Compete for ratings. Or give sports fans two options and we can plan a party.

You gotta bring ass to get ass.

Yeah

I love baseball, but it’s always better to have both.

by Brendan Scolari on Oct 26, 2009 11:58 PM PDT up reply actions

But why compete for ratings when you can just get more overall ratings by not competing for them?

Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

There are too many awful teams this year to expect a high pick from the Panthers. Even with 2 wins now the Panthers are the 7th-11th pick in the draft. Rams, Bucs, Titans, Browns, Chiefs, Lions all have less wins. Currently tied with the Raiders, Redskins, Dolphins and Seahawks.

The Seahawks and Dolphins will pull ahead buts it’s hard to see anyone else finishing with a better record.

Seriously, both the Bucs and Rams have a legitimate shot at 0-16. I can argue the one thing the Rams can do is run the ball but the Bucs can’t play any phase of the game. I would honestly favor last years Lions by 10 points over both those teams.

SOme wins will come

As these teams play each other. Rams play the Lions and Titans. Browns and Lions play each other. Raiders and Chiefs. Hopefully Carolina can end up around 5 wins and we’ll still get a top 10 pick.

Keep your eyes on the Bucs

I’m sure they are more pissed than any team that Delhomme could get benched. His patent 5 INT game was about their last shot at a win.

and...

i loved this tidbit in peter king’s MMQB yesterday…

And now how bad does the Carolina trade of its 2010 first-rounder (to get defensive lineman Everette Brown last year) look, obviously needing a quarterback of the future?

someone needs to direct him to panther watch!

by (Florida) Danny Tuccitto on Oct 27, 2009 9:05 AM PDT reply actions

Does Brown even play much?

He’s not a starter at least. And remember when some people were complaining about the trade, saying they wish we had Everette Brown in the preseason? Thank god that didn’t happen.
