Golden Nuggets: Take Two
Good morning everyone. Sorry for my absence the last few days, I haven't been available to do the Nuggets and I really wont get into what has caused my absence. I haven't checked in since before the game and I've yet to weigh in on my thoughts from Sunday... And honestly? I'm very conflicted. Obviously I feel that right now Alex Smith should start, I feel that he gives us the best chance to see a 49ers victory but I just don't know how actually "excited" I am. One half does not a legendary QB make. He played very well, possibly his best game as a pro, but I haven't trusted him in years and I'm not about to just yet. Call me unconvinced and pessimistic going into the upcoming game against the undefeated Colts.
As stated before, QB Alex Smith will make his first start of the season against the Colts on Sunday. Should be... interesting, to say the least. (SacBee.com)
It is indeed take two on the Alex Smith era. Lets hope it goes better this time around, no? (NBCBayArea.com)

Alex (Smith) seems to be more confident this time around. He is starting because he earned it, it isn't based on potential. (PressDemocrat.com)
SS Michael Lewis wants to play in Indy this Sunday. I'm not too sure I'd be comfortable with it, I don't want him to need to retire after a fourth concussion. (SacBee.com)
Vernon Davis is the first tight end in 49ers franchise history to catch three touchdown passes in a single game. I sincerely hope he continues this habit. (MercuryNews.com)

The QB Change in Little Kid World...
Mike Singletary hands Shaun some peanut butter, a jar of jelly, and two pieces of bread. After instructing Shaun to make him a sandwich, Singletary leaves to check on the other kids. He checks in on Shaun a couple of times, as Shaun is taking a very long time. Each time he checks it is clear that Shaun is making a very good sandwich, but taking his time to ensure he doesn’t spill anything. An hour later, Singletary checks in again, and is shocked to discover jam all over everything, and Shaun sitting contentedly on the floor eating peanut butter with his hands straight out of the container. Upset and confused as to how Shaun could have made such a mess, Singletary grounds Shaun and sends him to his room. Of course he first tells Shaun very kindly how he is sure he did his best to make the sandwich, but he is just making too big of a mess (ya think?). Singletary then sends for Alex and skeptically asks him to make the sandwich. Alex not only makes him a sandwich, he also cleans up the mess. Unfortunately, he forgot to do the dishes so Singletary wasn’t quite as happy as he otherwise would have been. The next day Singletary quietly enters Shaun’s room, thanks him for trying make him a sandwich, and tells him that Alex is going to be the new sandwich maker (and asks if that is ok). Singletary then goes to check on the other kids, wondering is Alex can possibly make another sandwich without making a mess (and still remember to do the dishes this time). If you remember, when Alex first tried to make a sandwich didn’t know what he was doing and used peanuts and butter instead of peanut butter. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he cut his hand open the next two times because his natural father, Mike, had handed him the knife blade first. But that was the past. It seemed that now he had been adopted by Singletary, Alex would do a much better job.

Alex's "5 year development" - from some other blog.......
Alex DID NOT take 5 years to develop. Only unqualified fools (including some "sports writers") would think or represent that. Starting with the Jets game in ‘06, up to the final game againsst the ‘Skins, Alex showed he was ready to take it to the next level. When you get a dibilatating injury on the second snap of the fourth game of the ‘07 season, after a 2 and 1 record, then taking two years to get rehabed due to team mismanagement of his injury and losing those two years of further development is not his fault! Now he has decent receivers (who will run discilpined, dependable routes where the QB will know where his receiver will be, not like Brandon Lloyd) he can do more of what he showed Sunday with NO game plan preparation! He is the QB of the future for the Niners. Just like they thought he would be when they drafted him, but unfortunately a bit later.
whos Brandon Loyd?
who is Cedric Wilson? who is arnez Battle? Who is Eric Johnson? (i happen to like Battle)
Smith didnt exactly have alot of help either.
