Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

According to this article from Matt Barrows, Marques Harris has been released and Diyral Briggs has been activated (making room for a Kansas City offensive lineman on the practice squad). Is anyone else excited about this? I have a feeling that Briggs may be the pure pass rusher we so desperately need.

If I'm not mistaken...

… Briggs lined up inside (primarily backup to Willis) during camp. I don’t think the guy is an OLB (which is where the pass rush comes from in a 3-4, primarily).

I think Briggs was promoted to play special teams, as Harris has been troubled with a nagging injury and hasn’t been able to contribute there.

Perhaps my memory is defective

But I think Briggs played on the right side and had a sack or two in the last pre-season game. I think he also caused a QB fumble.

Briggs

It looks like he did record a sack and a FF, but I’m still pretty sure he played inside. He’s currently listed as 230, which is extremely small for a 3-4 OLB, let alone a DE on a 4-man line.

Okay.

Watching over highlights of that game, he sure did line up outside. He blew right past the LT and got the sack.

My only caveat is that it was late in the fourth, and that game was before the final cuts. It’ll definitely be interesting to see if he gets into the game this week (or is even active).

Well

Against the Colts QB Manning. We need to get at him. No sacks against this team means a loss. I really would love to beat this team.

Revenge is a dish best served in the playoffs!
