I know that there have been myriad Crabtree-related posts recently, but the whole contract stalemate has dragged on long enough that we might as well find some way to have some fun with it. So I give you the Crabtree Contract Prediction Game! The rules will try to follow those of the weekly Prediction Game. This Game assumes that Crabtree will sign before the November 17 deadline (maybe a bogus assumption, but we'll make it for the purposes of having some fun).
You need to predict four things:
a) the date Crabtree will sign
b) the amount of guaranteed money Crabtree signs for (in millions of dollars)
c) the total base value of the contract Crabtree signs (again, in million of dollars)
d) the potential value of the contract Crabtree signs with incentives
Remember to take into account the length of the contract you think he'll sign. So if you think he'll sign a 4 year deal, adjust the length of the contract down, or if a 6 year deal, adjust it up.
Your score will be determined by how close you are to the actual date he signs, and the amount of difference between your dollar predictions and what he actually signs. Whether you're over or under on your prediction doesn't matter.
For example, if I predict that he signs Monday (Oct 5) and he signs on October 10, that'd be 5 points. If I predict he'll sign for $16 mill guaranteed and he signs for $18 that'd be 2 points. If I predict he'll sign for a base amount of $24 and he signs for a base salary of $23, that'd be 1 point. If I'm right on i predicting a total max value with incentives of $27, and his contract could go up as high as 30, that would be 3 points. That would make a total of 11 points. The lower the score, the better. If there are tie-breakers necessary, it will come down to the decimal points in the millions of dollars on the guaranteed and maximum amounts of the contract.
So? What are your thoughts? Contest closes on Tuesday, October 6.
You MUST format your answer like this:
Date: October 5
Guaranteed: 16
Base Salary: 24
Maximum: 27
