1 of our 2010 1st-rounders
Since we all know that McCloughan loooves dudes who block punts, is Terrence Cody to the Niners not the surest thing you've ever seen or heard of? I think it'd be a good move!

Did he finally lose some weight?
All of a sudden he’s being a playmaker.
He sucked for most of the early part of the season.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

I agree there
but the team could also use another DT. While Franklin is having a good season, he’s up for free agency in the offseason. I’m not sure how excited the front office will be about giving him a big contract, but with Vince Wilfork hitting the FA market, maybe Franklin won’t be in high demand and we’ll get him back at a value.
Either way, I’d rather see the team take an OT and Edge-Rusher in the first round.

It's a kind of nice predicament
I personally would rather Cody stay low key cuz I really want him. LOL That being said I’d for sure take an OT or Berry before him (maybe depends on the OT’s available and such) If we come out of the first round with an OT and safety or DT then I would be ecstatic. That being said it is a deep draft and I think we can get some good players and we also have some leeway in Free Agency.

We should try to get Berry with Carolinas pick if not get an OT. Cody is supposed to be a late 1st rounder I heard

I'm on the Cody bandwagon!
I’ve been watching every Alabama game I could find, and Cody is the real deal when it comes to NTs. He has lost some weight – down to 354lbs or so, and could use a year of conditioning. But this is a 6’4", 354lb guy who dunks basketballs, high-fives with his teammates, and is pretty quick off the ball. He is almost always double-teamed, and when he’s not he will drive his man into the backfield. He does play too high, however, and gives up too much leverage, especially when tired. But nobody drives this guy backward.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Cody can hold the point against double teams, but he needs better technique and better hand-fighting skills to be dominant in the pros. Imho, he’s one of the surest bets in the 1st round and I would draft him in a heartbeat. He would be a definite upgrade over Franklin but will need a year, and maybe even two, to improve his conditioning and technique.
I watched him block those two field goal attempts – he did it the same way both times. He basically just pushed the LG out of the way and into the backfield, then got his left arm up into the flight path. These were designed plays, not accidents, and it took a very strong, quick guy to execute. This is no fat guy flopping around and getting in the way, Cody is a player.
