49ers-Colts Final Injury Report

We've got the final injury report for the week, but there remain a lot of question marks.  The Colts have listed Dwight Freeney and Reggie Wayne  as Questionable, which means there's a 50-50 chance they'll play.  I'd imagine most folks are anticipating they'll play, because the "Questionable" designation is more or less a joke in the NFL.  Both Freeney and Wayne were full participants in practice today.  Had they missed practice again I'd be wondering, but at this point I'd be stunned if they didn't play.

As for the 49ers, Mike Singletary has indicated Takeo Spikes will be a game-time decision.  Given how much time the team will likely spend in the nickel defense, and given that Takeo Spikes usually comes out of the game in those situations, one has to wonder if he'll be active on Sunday.

49ers
Out
S Reggie Smith (groin)

Questionable
DE Ray McDonald (ankle)
LB Takeo Spikes (shoulder)

Probable
CB Marcus Hudson (shoulder)
RB Michael Robinson (shoulder)
OT Adam Snyder (calf)

Colts
Out
WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee)
DB Marlin Jackson (knee)
K Adam Vinatieri (right knee)

Doubtful
RB Donald Brown (shoulder)

Questionable
DE Dwight Freeney (knee)
WR Reggie Wayne (groin)
DT Eric Foster (shoulder)
TE Jacob Tamme (hamstring)

The Colts aren't fans of the probable tag

or really the doubtful tag. I was surprised to see they used it this week.

Usually Out means out and Questionable means they missed some amount of practice time, but aren’t ruled out yet.

Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

And Barrows is reporting that Jones may return punts

Obviously, catching and holding on to them is the biggest priority but after doing that, it would be nice to see his speed in the open field. If we are to win, something extra will have to go in our favor and ST is the most likely place.

What is up with Reggie Smith?

He’s been out long enough for a strained groin. This happened in preseason didn’t it? And is Ray McDonald gonna play? We need him. I have faith that Spikes is gonna play and if not Scotty McKillop did pretty good at filling in for.

He played the first couple of games

He’s been out a month, which is not unheard of. Anything other than a very mild injury can take a month or more to recover from.

Seems like it's been way longer

I’ve strained my groin before playing organized sports too. Played high school football and baseball and baseball at the collegiate level.

2 weeks max and I have always been back on the field.

He injured it against the Seahawks which was September 20th. Thats just about a month and a half considering that our game on Sunday is November 1st. I’m wondering if something else is going on cause it’s a bit ridiculous.

McDonald is key

RayMac’s play will be crucial if we are going to pull an upset. When he is playing his best our front like gets quite a bit of push. His importance will be even more pertinent given that we will have an extra DB out there most of the time.
Willis needs to pass rush or play the run the entire game. It would be a waste of his talents to have him dropping back. Peyton will beat him anyway.

On Offense: Get MRob involved!!! He’s a sleeper as a play maker, and an outstanding blocker. He also helps smith to identify coverage and audibles (Smith said so himself).

he is decent at pass blocking

but can’t run block for beans

Go 49ers
