Week 9 NFL Power Rankings and the 49ers

We're back with the latest power rankings and not too surprisingly, the 49ers continue their plunge in the rankings.  The 49ers 2.5 spots on average, while the Cardinals rose three full spots.  For the first time in a good while, the 49ers are getting close to teh Seahawks in the rankings.  It will be interesting to see what kind of separation we get this weekend in the division.  Seattle heads down to Arizona as a 9 point underdog and I'd imagine most folks are taking the Cardinals.  Of course, Arizona is 1-3 at home while 4-0 on the road.  Talk about a bizarre dichotomy.  Will we see an upset in Glendale this weekend?  I'm guessing no, but it'd sure be nice.

ESPN - #20 (19) - Playoffs? Mike Singletary wisely isn't talking about them after his team's fourth consecutive defeat.

  • Arizona - #10 (13)
  • Seattle - #25 (24)
  • St. Louis - #30 (30)

The Big Lead - #22 (19) - Twenty-four points off of four turnovers. If I’m Mike Singletary, during this short week of preparation for Thursday’s game, I’m hammering this point home at every turn.

  • Arizona - #11 (16)
  • Seattle - #24 (24)
  • St. Louis - #32 (27)

Fox Sports - #20 (19) - FIRST-HALF BLESSING: Well, for one thing, Mike Singletary has not dropped his pants once (we kid, haha). But true thanks go out to the NFC West, against whom the Niners are 3-0 this season.

  • Arizona - #15 (17)
  • Seattle - #21 (21)
  • St. Louis - #30 (30)

CBS Sports - #25 (22) - Has the hype about this team subsided? They've lost four consecutive games, one at home to the Titans. Ouch.

  • Arizona - #10 (11)
  • Seattle - #22 (24)
  • St. Louis - #29 (28)

Pro Football Talk (via NBCSports.com) - #21 (20) - With all the time he spends talking about making the playoffs, we wonder whether coach Mike Singletary realizes his team has lost four games in a row.
