Another week, another must-win for the 49ers. The NFL Network debuts it's Thursday night telecast with the 49ers and the Bears, with Mike Singletary making his first head coaching appearance against his old team. Imagine the insanity if this was happening in Chicago. Both teams are having their issues with maintaining any kind of consistency, so it should be interesting to see which team is able to step up and grab the proverbial bull by the horns.
For folks who are unable to watch the game on tv, if you have Sprint and NFL Mobile Live, you'll be able to watch the game on your phone. For those without the NFL Network in the Bay Area, the game is being simulcast on CW, 44/Cable 12.
And one other reminder, howtheyscored created an official Alex Smith FanPost. During and immediately after the game, please do NOT create new Alex Smith FanPosts. Whether Smith plays well or poorly, use this official FanPost for any comments. If you create a new FanPost, the FanPost will be deleted. Additionally, we'll email you the contents of the FanPost so you can paste it into the official thread if you would like. It's simply to prevent a run of similar FanPosts at once. As for the offense and Jimmy Raye outside of the Alex Smith context, let's keep it in the recap thread for now (once it comes out later tonight).

madden and simulation dont’ belong in the same sentence as one another.
and I’m just kidding for the record. May the simulation prove to be true!

I like how we’re already assuming people will be pissed off at Raye and Smith over their play.

My prediction? Pain
I’m pretty sure this is how it’ll play out:
It will be a slow, grind-it out game for most of the game. Very low scoring, and a lot of running the ball on both sides. It will be close until the end of the game, when Cutler realizes he has to win the game for them, and he will. 16-13 Bears.

But then good things usually happen when I’ve got bad feelings, so maybe that’s not so awful.

I’m actually not going to be in the thread come game-time. I’ve got a class tonight where I have to be a witness for somebody’s trial. However, outside of that 15 or so minutes I’ll be watching the game on NFL Mobile Live. But I’ll make sure and have threads going up as these fill up.

Who do you think is going to have the most impact this game on Offense and Defense??
My picks are -
Offense – Crabtree – hes gonna have a breakout game sooner or later…why not now? =P
Defense – Justin Smith – really quiet last game, I see him making a few plays behind the line today

Too early for a challenge and just too inconclusive.
It totally looked like a catch from my biased eyes, but i dont think the refs have a clear enough view to overturn it

so much as it is a personnel issue. Goldson is always over the top, which means that opposing TE’s are left to Michael Lewis, who can’t cover to save his life, and Haralson/Spikes.
