habits/superstitions
ok so this is a little random, but im curious what everyone else does on game day to start it off "right". although ive watched the niners since i was a baby (dad was a huge fan throughout the 80's-on) during the last 3-4 years ive become much more attached to the game.
basically on a gameday i HAVE to put on my jersey first thing when i get up, sometimes this means no shower... Lately ive been forcing my girlfriend to put one on too (she's not a huge football fan) and since i started that, the Niners have lost 4, so today i'm not letting her wear it. hopefully a good game tonight, experts are picking Niners on NFL network, not that that means anything.
i was expecting to work today so i was worried about my jersey wearing... the hardhat was going to have to do. got the day off, so jersey it is. what are you guys doing.

It’s a lot to sift through, but you can read about some of this in a on old thread we had a long time ago here:
http://www.ninersnation.com/2009/7/10/944954/probing-the-nation-sounds-gross
I like these kinds of threads. It’s probably high time we had a new one. Good idea!
Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.
my bad
never saw that one, well heres a new one!
Hey man, I wasn’t posting it to be mean. That’s an old thread. It’s been out of view for a loooooong time. I just thought that since you were interested you’d like to take a look in there.
I think this is a great thread. We have a lot of new members since we ran that old thread. I want to see what they have to say.

it's all good
you were just “pimping” my thread. I went back through and read some responses that made me LOL.

I kinda miss FF
I hope he’s not avoiding the site because he thinks we’ll rip the Seahawks, because we always ripped the Seahawks. Of course, he’s probably all gloomy about Aaron Curry.

I don't really have any superstitions
I try to always wear a Niners shirt and this season I’ve been switching which one depending on if they’re home or away (I was wearing shirt A on the day of the first game and they won. I was wearing shirt B on the day of the second game and they won, so for away games I’ve worn shirt A and for home games shirt B, the luck has apparently worn off). Other than that I don’t do anything out of the ordinary. I try to always be somewhere with internet so I can get in on the gameday thread and post images.
A hearty thank you to Rich Aurilia for all the good memories, and to the Niners for finally getting the uni's (mostly) right.
Superstitions
if I do to a friends house to watch the game, I usually where a jersey under my coat. I don’t take off my coat until the 49ers score a TD. I don’t do it often, because I like watching 49ers games in the comfort of my own surroundings, plus no one hears me cry that way.
On a side note. The NFLN is showing “America’s Game” all day, and the schedule is 1981-49ers, 1984-49ers, 1988-49ers, 1989-49ers, 1994-49ers and 1985-Bears. Wonder if they are building up anticipation for the two teams playing tonight?

I use to have some..
but then I realized they did not actually help, the only thing that helps is me yelling at my TV… I know the team can hear me since I hooked a microphone up to the TV. ;)
I'm beginning to wonder after 20 years
But they all worked so well in 1994…
Even if they never really worked for the prior 15 years I was a Chargers fan ( except for one double overtime game against Miami ).
Tonite I’m going to wear my 9ers boxers backwards and inside out.
The future ain't what it used to be.
I'm wearing my boxers inside out and backwards
but because it’s thursday, and the tag on my undershorts says “wednesday”

Nice ...
… you got those tags on the socks too?

I’ve got the feet of a hobbit, I don’t need no stinkin’ socks.

My Sister-in-Law
has a Larry Fitzgerald jersey she wears every Sunday…one of those stupid pink jersey’s that I think are the dumbest thing in the world. She didn’t wear it the first 3 games and the 49ers won. But since she’s been wearing it, the Niners have gone 1-4. I’ve got to find a way to get rid of it.
Suggestions?
Scratch that
She wore it the first 2 games and since the Niners have gone 1-5. But the Rams don’t count
is she a cardinals fan?
if she isn’t, then I know a great way to get rid of that Fitzgerald jersey. Tell her he’s a woman-beater. I know, I know, it’s wrong, but for the interests of the 49ers, it’s a good idea.
Or, just buy her a different pink jersey – I think the Lions are switching to pink full time next year, so that’s a good start.

LOL
Stafford sounds too close to staff infection…not sure she’ll go for that one. Yeah unfortunately she’s a Cardinals fan. Me and my brother are trying to convert her in to a Niners fan but no luck yet. Maybe if they start winning…you know how chicks are.
I was thinking of maybe spreading a bunch of peanut butter on it and letting the dog go to town on it… but then they’ll have to get rid of the dog and he’s a cool dog and he can’t really speak in his defense.
Woman beater huh? I could try that…

You are talking about the jersey right? lol, j/k.
Yeah, try to woman-beating angle (I know it’s not something to joke about, but hey, this is a serious issue you have).
by Andrew Davidson on Nov 12, 2009 2:00 PM PST up reply actions
I lol’d…
Yeah definitely the jersey. Gross man. What movie was that? ..oh yeah Road Trip
And yes…the issue is very serious. I guess tonight will tell me if the superstion is bogus or real though. I may just let the dog eat the jersey for the hell of it if I can get away with it. I’ve been trying to get my brother to plot with me but he’s not as supersticous
I probably need to start drinking beer
out of my Niners pilsner glass during all the games. that would probably help them win more. I also have a vintage “Team of the Decade” tumbler from the late 80s or early 90s – maybe it’s time for a few cocktails tonight.
A hearty thank you to Rich Aurilia for all the good memories, and to the Niners for finally getting the uni's (mostly) right.
aren't you the guy
that’s get vicious hiccups when drinking?
I have a bunch of 49ers stuff that I refuse to take out of the original packaging. I have glasses, mugs and even a mini-helmet. I’m drinking champagne out of the mini-helmet when after the 49ers sixth Super Bowl victory. One day I’ll crack and have a nice big glass of milk in one of un-opened cups, but until then, they stay sealed!

The opposite of what my dad predicts
is what actually goes down, every time, no matter what. Ive actually taken bets and won based on the rule of dad-is-always-wrong. He predicted victory 2 seconds before the farve miracle pass, he predicted loss just before the game winning drive in the season opener in arizona.
it's pretty weird
but I like to burn incense and converse with my Patrick Willis signed mini helmet before games. Usually I just ask it to give off positive energy to Bamm Bamm and allow the team to play a good game without injuries. Oh and I have a 49ers hat I wear on game days too.
