Golden Nuggets: Lock it up
Morning everyone, I'm back from my brief absence. I've been having a lot of those lately, but I'm sincerely trying to cut back on them. Anyway, back now and all is well. Or as close to well as possible. Yesterday we had a great Sunday of football as far as entertainment goes but two negatives as far as the 49ers are concerned. These of course are the Panthers winning their game against the Falcons (the 49ers hold Carolina's first round pick in the 2010 draft) and the Cardinals getting a big divisional win against the Seahawks. Sure it's bad for the 49ers either way who wins that game, but all we need right now is for Arizona to lose. I like the teams chances of fending off a Seahawks team, but not so sure when it comes to Arizona. Still, I see a huge victory coming to 49erland on Sunday, as I said previously the 49ers will beat the Packers, and they'll win big. Here's some links, folks.
The game against the Bears was the most watched Thursday night football game in its history. (NFL.com)
If the uncapped year happens it could affect the 49ers free agent situation in the future. I honestly never thought I'd be in a position where I was was worried about whether or not the team could keep Aubrayo Franklin. Huh. (SacBee.com)
This team with Alex Smith at quaterback is more of an experiment as opposed to a complete team who knows what they are. (SFGate.com)
Maiocco takes a look at the 49ers QB options for next season. I'm finding it hard to read through Maiocco's blog.. I hate the new layout, absolutely hate it. (PressDemocrat.com)
Barrows thinks Alex Smith is good enough. I think he's one of the few. (SacBee.com)
WR Josh Morgan will be replacing Isaac Bruce as the starter on Sunday, and it's likely not having to do with Bruce's ankle. (SFGate.com)
The NFL is taking note of the play of Aubrayo Franklin. (MercuryNews.com)

Packers/Cowboys Game
Was not very pleased to see how good the Green Bay defense played yesterday. It’s hard to tell if it was the Cowboys that had a typical letdown game, or if the Packers are as good as they played yesterday.
The game this weekend just got a bit more interesting, and if there was ever a must win game for the 49ers, the one coming up in Lambeau would be it. If the team loses, they’ll have to run the table, just to get a shot at the playoffs. If the team wins, a 5-2 conference record puts them in the driver’s seat for a wild card spot. We’ll see what the team is made of, and if they can take care of business when business needs to be taken care of.
Are the Packers a better team? I truly, honestly, don’t think so. Their O-Line stinks worse than ours, and their defense tends to be a lot more inconsistent than our own. I hate that this game has such huge implications, because I was just getting over my steamed hatred for the Cheeseheads. A loss on Sunday, and Green Bay goes back to the top of the list of teams I hate.

Stadium Link
The final environmental report for a Santa Clara stadium was released this past Friday.
Traffic concerns
Whenever this is the biggest issue it means there are no issues. Traffic? Ya, when 70,000 people are descending to one particular spot in the same 90 minute time frame there is going to be some traffic.
Everyone here knew Bruce would take the Bench
His experience is valuable. However, going into the rest of this year I would like to see more Jones and Hill.
