Week 10 Prediction Games: The Riveting Results

I was actually kind of hoping that the Browns would win tonight because I promised that if they did, I would just fill this thread with a long stream of LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLs.

However, that was not to be. It would have made things so easy on me, too. Now I actually have to put a little more effort into mailing this thing in...

I can't decide if I should keep making fun of groug or stop making fun of him. History seems to suggest that I should stop. When I was making fun of wjackalope, he was always in the lead. Then I decided to stop, and now he's fighting for a playoff spot!

After wjackalope, I tuned my sharp wit and biting tongue toward groug. He was the recipient of many LOLs, and even a few lulz. But now look. I mean, what the heck? I'm blessed with this power, but I don't know how to use it for good!

So anyway, I guess I'll stop making fun of groug. But I have to poke fun at somebody. I mean, that's what makes this whole thing worthwhile for me. So, if you want, go ahead and use the comments section to tell me who I should make fun of.

In terms of who did well this week... well, man, groug aside... holy jeez, quite a few people. Ninerfromacrossthepond had one of the most impressive jumps, and is now comfortably nestled in the top 10. I've been warning you about this guy for weeks now, and he's making very, very steady steps toward the top spot.

I'd watch out if I were you, groug. I'd also feel confident in myself, as a handsome and intelligent person who doesn't even look creepy when he's staring at people. I mean, it's kind of endearing, really. I wish I were you sometimes. Not all the time. That would be weird. But sometimes. Like, 3 p.m. or so. My usual staring times.

Ahem.

Props to shlecko, too. A top 12 spot might be a playoff spot! I know I've been saying there are eight playoff spots, but I'm pretty sure I used 12 last season. Just like the NFL. I'll have to check, though.

To illini49er and gbears16: good job! To bonbrillio: major kudos for one seriously awesome week!

I want to mention newcomer simiski: not only a newcomer, but also a very fine week in the standings.

To shulkdog: Keep this up and things could get interesting for you.

ZeroIndulgence, snowweasel30, jpgarfunkle, cassusriff: pat yourselves on the back!

Fooch: I'd arrange a reverse jinx month of making fun of you so you could get back in this, but I know that you're just biding your time and don't really need my help. What's your plan? Week 13 for the strike? Holding off for the week 17, four perfect prediction performance? No... wait, don't tell me! I like the suspense better.

By the way, check your scores, people. I'm not perfect here. I mean, not all of us can be groug.

A few miles south of Soledad, the Salinas River drops in close to the hillside bank and runs deep and green. The water is warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the sunlight before reaching the narrow pool. On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees - willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter's flooding: and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over the pool.

Holy crap, what in the world happened to that table…

Grrr...

The code in this thread wants me to punch it in the crotch. I think I got it right now.

Nice! I actually did well this week! Sadly, I predicted a shutout in cleveland, but I overestimated Baltimore’s defense. Live and learn.

Sometimes the impossible can become possible if you're AWESOME!

I meant Baltimore’s offense…but I’m sure you could figure that out.

People who don’t closely follow McCovey Chronicles were probably very confused by some of that.

I told you my score this week would have a 1 in it.

It just didn’t have the 0 following it.

Don't trust this guy. He lies.

what has happened to me?!?!

I am picking so many winners wrong – in the past I might not score but I usually had at least 4 if not 5 or 6 winners right almost every week. Now I’m getting 2-3 winners right per week. I haven’t been picking many upsets – and it seems like there have been a LOT of upsets. Or am I just not paying attention to who is good and who is not? Frustrated wjackalope is frustrated!!!!

A hearty thank you to Rich Aurilia for all the good memories, and to the Niners for finally getting the uni's (mostly) right.

I explained this all in the post. You lost the power of my reverse jinx. Simple as that.

NO! NO!

I can’t believe you of all people have so much power over me! It can’t be true! That’s impossible! (can you hear my Mark Hamill impression?)

As long as he doesn't aim that jinx at me!!!

Going steadily along, ever since I started picking against the Niners I have been collecting points regularly.
Normally, I’m a bad luck charm which was why I went against the niners but in this its worked – so far!!

by Ninerfromacrossthepond on Nov 17, 2009 6:06 PM PST up reply actions

Still #8

I need to make a bigger push, staying here is getting me a little upset LOL. Top 10 all year but can’t break the top 5. Time for me to step up

"Cannot play with them. Cannot win with them. Cannot coach with them. Can't do it. I want winners. I want people that want to win!!!"

WATCH OUT FELLAS!!!!

I don’t think anyone had the week I had. Points in 3 out of 6 games, including a 1st, a 2nd and a close 4th place finish.

If I hadn’t missed like half the season in this darn pick em thing I would be up top I’m sure of it. Jumped 10 spots with 11 points!!!

by hudd07 on Nov 17, 2009 1:08 PM PST reply actions

Dont want to be that guy

But, I had a 1st and 2 2nds this wk…. and I didnt even play the first two weeks of the year.

Chris Cohan- YOU'RE FIRED!

by bonbrillio on Nov 17, 2009 2:58 PM PST up reply actions

CONGRATS!!

Don’t worry, you aren’t that guy. If I’m allowed to toot my own horn you should be too. ;-)

I didn’t notice you on the board. I glanced at the weeks, and thought I had arguably one of the better weeks. Didn’t even see you with a 1st and two 2nd place finishes. That’s pretty impressive.

by hudd07 on Nov 18, 2009 4:30 PM PST up reply actions

Thanks for the Call out

I’m actually surprised I got any points when I was watching the games and going oh 22 points off 26 off… no way I’ll make top 5. At least I’m slowly adding points and feeling better about my picks. Hard to predict scores too though.
