Week 10 NFL Power Rankings and the 49ers

And we're back to take a look at the composite week 10 NFL power rankings.  My favorite ranking has to belong to Vic Carucci of NFL.com.  Vic has the 49ers ranked 22nd for the second straight week.  That actually doesn't bother me.  What I find amusing is the fact that for two straight weeks he's had the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 49ers.  Last week he had the Seahawks 20th, this week he has them 21st.

When a team has a better record than another team AND has beaten that team, they should be higher in subjective power rankings, don't you think?  Each week we put together SBN Football power rankings.  For this week I ranked the 49ers 20th and the Seahawks 25th.  And of course I had the Bears behind the 49ers.  One ranking I've had some difficulty with is the Jacksonville Jaguars.  They're winning games, but it's hard to understand why.  So, for now they're ahead of the 49ers, at least until their matchup two weekends from now.

ESPN - #19 (20) - The Week 11 game against the Packers recalls fateful 2005 draft featuring Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers.

  • Arizona - #7 (10)
  • Seattle - #25 (25)
  • St. Louis - #30 (30)

The Big Lead - #20 (22) - Five turnovers by the visiting team and the 49ers still almost gave it away at the end. Not a good harbinger for the rest of the season.

  • Arizona - #9 (11)
  • Seattle - #24 (24)
  • St. Louis - #29 (32)

Star-divide

Fox Sports - #22 (20) - If not for Jay Cutler's five picks in Week 10, the Niners could be staring at five straight losses, so thank goodness he couldn't get along with Josh McDaniels. The 49ers will need more from Alex Smith if they are to get serious about the playoffs.

  • Arizona - #11 (15)
  • Seattle - #24 (21)
  • St. Louis - #29 (30)

CBS Sports - #23 (25) - Moral of their season: If you can't throw it consistently, you can't win. Alex Smith had a regress game against the Bears.

  • Arizona - #10 (10)
  • Seattle - #24 (22)
  • St. Louis - #29 (29)

Pro Football Talk (via NBCSports.com) - #19 (21) - The 49ers have finally found a quarterback who can consistently complete passes to their players.  It's a shame he's under contract with the Bears.

  • Arizona - #7 (9)
  • Seattle - #27 (24)
  • St. Louis - #30 (30)

NFL.com (Brandt) - #20 (24)

  • Arizona - #8 (11)
  • Seattle - #25 (22)
  • St. Louis - #29 (28)

NFL.com (Brooks) - #21 (22)

  • Arizona - #9 (13)
  • Seattle - #26 (25)
  • St. Louis - #28 (28)

NFL.com (Carucci) - #22 (22)

  • Arizona - #8 (10)
  • Seattle - #21 (20)
  • St. Louis - #28 (29)

WhatIfSports.com - #13 (16)

  • Arizona - #12 (11)
  • Seattle - #23 (24)
  • St. Louis - #24 (26)

Average 49ers Ranking: 19.89 (21.33)
Average Cardinals Ranking
: 9.00 (11.11)
Average Seahawks Ranking: 24.33 (23.00)
Average Rams Ranking: 28.44 (29.11)

Yeah that is bunk

I don’t understand how he could have the Hawks ranked higher either. Maybe it was a mental error. If it’s not then there is definitely a bias there somewhere

Maybe Because

It looks like they know what they’re doing. Do you ever get the feeling we’ve backed into some of our wins for the last few years. A w’s a w. I get it, but I was watching the LIONS, and even their offense just looked smoother than ours with Smith or Hill at the helm. We need O-line draft picks with our and the Panthers #1s, and then we need to get a QB through free agency that is in the top 1/2 of the NFL. Who is coming up free next year?

Looking to put San Fran*six-o* here some time soon!
