10-6 and the division title, you may say i´m a dreamer...
Right after beating Arizona I said this could be a 10-6 season, finally winning another division title, and you may think that I´m too optimist, but I still think the same.
I couldn´t see the whole game yesterday, but according to what I saw and what I have heard, it seems that Alex Smith made a decent job and the offense is getting a little less predictable (although it still needs to ve developed into a good offense, but we have the weapons to do it ), and our defense has proven itself to be good enough to keep us in the games.
If we take a look at our schedule, we are not worse than any of the teams that we have to play against, except maybe Philadelphia, so let´s say we lose that game, then we have eight games remaining:
We have three games that should be easy wins: TENNESSEE,SAINT LOUIS and DETROIT.
It won´t be that easy with SEATTLE and JACKSONVILLE, but we should manage to beat them.
And the three remaining games will make the difference: CHICAGO, GREEN BAY and ARIZONA, they are tough teams, but definitely not unbeatable, so if we keep on building confidence in our offense, playing a tough defense and finally they can put it all together, then we can beat anyone.

Wait and See...
Raye has to desing better plays. They are still getting stuffed up the middle. We can’t rely on a big run here and there from Gore. It has to be consistent. Smith looks like the the starter he was suppose to be. We’ll see. The Cards are not as good as everyone thinks so we’re still deep in it.

It's possible.
It involves us not dropping more than two of:
Az, GB, Phi, Chi, Jac as well as winning the games we’re clearly “supposed” to win.
That doesn’t seem impossible.
So long as we beat Az, thanks to their loss yesterday winning the division at 9-7 is now in play.

The 49ers will win the NFC West
Why?
It’s a two-team battle between then 49ers & the Cardinals.
The 49ers are a much more ‘mentally tough’ team than are the Cardinals.
It’s that simple.

the way I see it
So far we can only beat teams in our division. chalk up at least 1 more win vs Detroit and we will escape this year at 7-9… again.
Lets hope our offense Clicks this week because all those 3 & outs aren’t getting it done.
I do feel we can prob make it to 10-6 with wins over Jags, Titans, and bears, But were already at 3-4, so if we only lose twice for the rest of the season would be just Awsome!

well, lets see the opponents we need to worry about
1. Bears- This team lives or dies with Jay Cutler. If we make him get jittery early on in the game with a couple big sacks or an interception he’ll slide and the game will become an easy win.
2. Green Bay- All I know about this team is that Aaron Rodgers gets sacked a lot. But they end up looking good anyway. I think this means that bringing a lot of pressure doesn’t work. Focus on the secondary, minimal blitzing, nickle package a lot for double coverage etc.
3. Jacksonville- Lost to the titans and got destroyed by seattle. They beat houston, but that team is also famously inconsistent. dunno what this all is.
4. Seattle- without gore’s 2 big runs we lost that game. That said things have just been getting worse and worse for this team with injuries.
5. Arizona- Do whatever we did last time we beat them. We should also get Kurt Warner to throw a bunch of interceptions. Who would have thought he’d have more turnovers than delhomme.
6. Philly- lost to oakland. I honestly don’t know. Summon the power of that pigeon that flew down the field? I can’t stand watching oakland games, so I don’t know what philly did that allowed them to get beat by such a horrible team. We should make them do that again.

Not exactly
1. The problem with the Bears revolves almost exclusively around the defense, not Cutler.
This is the same defense that allowed Cedric Benson to rush for almost 200 yeards and for Carson Palmer to throw MORE TD passes (5) than incompletitions (4) in their recent blowout.

I worry about every game
Especially the ones no one seems worried about.
Minnesota was a choke.
Atlanta was a nearly inexplicable blowout. The wheels came off. The engine caught fire. The air bags deployed. The electrical system shorted out. It was a disgrace.
Houston was a choke.
Indianapolis was a choke.
Overconfidence is not a failing of this 9er fan.

Those weren't 'chokes.'
How can you ‘choke’ when you are the underdog on the road?
Would you feel better if they had been blown out by two or three TD’s yesterday?
They were two TD underdogs?
You make no sense.
by GeoMak on Nov 2, 2009 4:17 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I think if you are winning and don't, there is somewhat of a choke issue going on.
by hudd07 on Nov 2, 2009 5:40 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Simple
We had the lead with only a minute to go in MN and lost.
We had big mojo going in Houston and caved in right at the end.
We held Peyton to zero TD’s and had a easy crack at winning it at the end.
I call those chokes. I don’t care what the odds were, what the expectations were, or where we were playing.
The future ain't what it used to be.
by riderless on Nov 2, 2009 5:46 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
It's 'not finishing.'
That’s a big difference than ‘choking.’
Choking is what would’ve happened to the Texans, if they would’ve blown a 21 point lead.

The Colts were 31-7 (after winning the SB in 2006)
before Sunday’s game agianst SF (815 %).
Mike Singletary took over a team that was 18-37 under HC Mike Nolan (327%).
No reasonable person would’ve expected SF to win Sunday in Indianapolis.
They didn’t.
But they gave Indy all they could handle in that game.
They didn’t choke. They just couldn’t close the deal.
Most teams can’t against the Colts, especially on the road.

Exactly
I think he said afterwards that it might’ve been his single greatest play.
If so, you can’t commit suicide over it.
If it takes maybe the single greatest play by one of the NFL’s greatest players to beat you . . . Oh well.
I’d rather get beat that way (if I had to get beat) than by a fluke play (like the Bengals gave up at the end of the Bronco game opening day).

I would not worry about other teams as much as worry about our team
TEN, STL, DET, are not “easy” wins, but we should win them.
All the other games against teams with winning records are winnable too.
It’s about how we play, making our own big plays and reducing down our stupid mistakes.
We got killed by Atlanta but almost beat Indy, that just makes any prediction difficult.

You're not dreaming
You’re seeing the future. Check out the winning lotto numbers for that week while you’re there.
It all starts this Sunday. I’m concerned about this game since we should win and that, plus the close losses, creates expectations to win big over a 1-6 team. Whether we win by 4 or 40, I want to see us getting better on offense. Better blocking for Gore. A WR catching a TD. Alex developing more rhythm with all receivers. Commit no turnovers. And please, please stay healthy. A 4-4 first half of the season sets us up for a second half run. Many other teams have made the playoffs doing this exact thing.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.

Look
Our four losses have come against teams with a combined records of 23-7 in 2009 and 42-22 in 2008. It’s not like we laid down a duck against teams below our talent level. The Minnesota and Indianapolis games are most upsetting because they are as of right now two of the three best teams in the NFL (Saints). We went into their home domes and barring a couple plays here and there would have come out with a W. Now that we didn’t and are 3-4 it’s time to look ahead at what can be and not what should have been.
VS- Tennessee Titans (1-6)
VS- Chicago Bears (4-3)
AT- Green Bay Packers (4-3)
VS- Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4)
AT- Seattle Seahawks (2-5)
VS- Arizona Cardinals (4-3)
AT- Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
VS- Detroit Lions (1-6)
AT- St. Louis Rams (1-7)
Combined opponent records: 25-39
There is no reason why we should lose a home match up the rest of the season (combined home opponents records: 14-21) If we can protect our homefield then all we have to do is win 2 road games against Green Bay, Seattle, Philadelphia and St. Louis. In two of those games we will be favored and in terms of the Packers game it’s a good matchup for us. I see no reason why the 49ers cannot finish the season 7-2, actually i fully expect it.

I like that logic
I’ll be happy if the Niners beat all the teams that have records below .500 and take the Cards game at home. Of course you can’t trust them to do that (or rather i’ll believe it when I see it). Then again, Philly is good for a let-down game now and then—why not have that be against the Niners?
