Packers 23 - 49ers 3: Second half thread

    49ers_logo_medium vs. Packers_icon_medium

This game has been pretty miserable this far.  In fact, it's been quite similar to the home debacle against the Atlanta Falcons.  At the half the 49ers have been outgained 362 yards to 57 yards.  Shockingly enough, that's just not gonna cut it.  So, time for a new thread for the second half.

GO NINERS!

Seven pass attempts over an entire half? What the hell’s going on? Rodgers has 31 attempts, coming primarily in the shotgun. Let’s not forget that their O-line sucks too.

I don’t understand anyone saying they need to be giving Gore the ball more at this point. When you’re down by 20 points, running the ball is never the way to stage a big comeback and conserve the clock. This is when coaches start taking deep shots down the field.

Crabs!

I take it back, Florida Danny…the long strikes are working!

by Bigmouth on Nov 22, 2009 12:12 PM PST reply actions

OK, so it appears that in order to have an effective offense we need

to be the only team in the NFL to run a spread offense. Can our coaches somehow change and create a hybrid run/pass offense that can utilize Gore’s strength up the middle, and Alex’s shotgun passing formation?

He missed a tackle in this game and looks a bit slower today but the last couple have been good.

I think he’s exhausted. Nearly 23 minutes on the field first half. Since that headset change our secondary has not blown coverages deep.

Not the belabor the point, but once again every snap of the last drive was a shotgun formation. It’s the significant difference in the Niners offense during the second half.
