missing the walsh days

maybe i live in a place of repressed memory but remember the days when we would have beautiful opening drives with the Genius scripting the plays. Now everyone and their brother has a laminated plan, but in the on days it was only walsh. It seemed like every game he would pull out a special innovative play in the first drive as they wend down the field. I looked forward to that "new play" that "new wrinkle". Now we have have Jimmy Raye, its actually ridiculous. How can we have gone so low, our team looks tired and stale. Singletary seems like he can be a good coach but man its hard to defend a guy that would hire Raye. Walsh would see all the ingredients, far beyond just a an OC. We need an new Genius, the only one close to Walsh as far as innovation goes is belichick.

In the old days we didnt just win, we won with style.

Check out the quotes below, we can only dream

Innovation and Creativity

The Future of the NFL Forged in the 1980s

"I don't know if people realize the innovation he has brought to this game on so many levels. From a business perspective, I'd compare it to Silicon Valley, where Andy Grove, Steve Jobs and some of the other pioneers really changed business. Bill Walsh, around that same time, brought the same kind of mentality to football. In terms of how you deal with people and the kind of environment you create, his was a very enlightened approach."

--Steve Young, San Francisco 49ers quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer.

"In the recent or modern history of the NFL. no coach has been more influential and innovative than Bill Walsh. That includes his coaching on the field and his thoughts and action on how franchises can work together to win championships."

--Brian Billick, Baltimore Ravens head coach.

"He was a perfectionist. When writing his script, he didn't believe that running the football was the way to get there. It had to be prettier than that --beautiful in some way."

--Keena Turner, former San Francisco 49er linebacker for 11 years.

Will We Live In The Past Forever? Thanks Yorks!!!

Will the Yorks have us in this purgatory of losing forever?? Jed is just better at PR..He has no more clue than his dad..Until the clueless 28 year old wakes up and hires someone who actually knows winning football to run the team, we are stuck in York losing purgatory forever

A lot of the visible work that Walsh did with DeBartolo in his first year or so with the team was PR work. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he’s earnestly trying to improve the team, but results almost never show immediately and you still have to repair the team’s and the ownership’s relationship with the fans while you’re at it.

I don't know about that, to the groin.

Do you make rash judgments in every aspect of your life? Or do you restrict it solely to your analysis of football ownership?

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.

I also wish this year’s Niners had been constructed and coached by one of the greatest coaches in NFL history.

Absent that, let’s just hope Singletary does a good job.

Its Eddie D Who Is Missed The Most

Walsh was great, I grant you that, but its really Eddie D. who we should be missing the most..The Yorks have turned the once proud 49er organization into an inept laughingstock of a franchise that is a sad joke..

ITS NOT THE COACHES THAT HAVE DESTROYED THE FRANCHISE BUT THE STUPID AND DYSFUNCTIONAL YORKS THAT HAVE MADE OUR TEAM UNWATCHABLE AND TERRIBLE..

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Thank God the internet wasn’t around when Walsh was hired. Imagine all the of the “Fire Walsh” posts that would’ve happened after his 2-14 debut season.

Stupidity

Where is the correlation between 8 years of York losing and two years of Eddie D and Walsh losing, then winning the super bowl in his third year…

More idiot bloggers, who are satisfied with the Yorks and their losing..Enjoy the losing bignerd..

What next?

You offer a whole lot of criticism, but no remedies aside from firing a lot of people. Oh, and you seem to think we should yell and scream at the York. You offer nothing that could be called CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

Speaking of idiot bloggers...

I note you refer to them as the Yorks, thus packaging up John and Jed as the same person. Nicely done. Top notch analysis, guy!

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.

York had nothing to do with my point.

My point was in the impatience of wanting Singletary fired after one year. Like what you have. It’s ironic that you talk about Eddie D and yet want the Yorks to act like Al Davis. You don’t know how clueless you are.

Eddie D was successful with Walsh because he was patient with him. I will not fault the Yorks for following the same formula. They give coaches enough time to prove they’re a failure and make changes when needed. They even give GMs enough time….. (hint? who knows)….

NEWS FLASH!!! Our demise was Walshes fault too!!!

Who picked Terry Donasuck to be GM? Oh that’s right! Bill Walsh!!! Who put the team in a bad money situation? Eddie D!!! Now they did great things ofcourse(5 SB’s) but they were far from perfect.
