Official Updated NN Offseason Discussion Thread (11/28)
FOOCH'S NOTE: Consider this our current Official thread for draft and offseason discussion
Fooch has asked me to run the FanPost dedicated to the Offseason each week since the threads fill up rather quickly.
The Official Offseason FanPost has been filling up pretty fast each week (within 4-5 days 500+ comments) and the load time increases a bit when the posts do fill up. Each week, I will take it upon myself to post something similiar in nature to keep the topic of conversation live and the comment count down. For free agency, to also cut down on some of the traffic, smileyman is also volunteering some of his time and is going to go in to detail about the CBA as well as free agency.
I wanted to consolidate the process here from the very 1st one I did from the top 25 I had originally. In doing so, I will only be listing the top 5 rated players in order of best 1-5 at each position of my opinion (Idea courtesy of Eastbayjim). Considering that there has been a few weeks from my last post for this topic, some of the players have either moved up or down in ranking accordingly. I am also going to connect a few links to Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, and another really good source that I found in mynfldraft.com's. After the jump, I will start at the QB position and end on defense at the safety position.
If you would like to keep this post up for a week until I can get to the next one, like Fooch has mentioned of the others, Rec it...

I used a bunch of sources in the analysis as well as my own judgment in what I have been able to see this year in watching college football. I am sure that not everyone's opinion will be the same, but in a majority of the places I refferenced, the consensus was the same give or take a few slots here and there. Overall this should be pretty acurate and inline with what alot of the pro scouts and experts are saying.
Like I mentioned above, I will now link a few 2010 NFL Mock Drafts that are the most current:
mynfldraft.com
(This draft board is the most accurate in all my research that I have seen in any of them for predictions being correct of years past)
http://www.mynfldraft.com/NFL-Mock-Draft
(I couldn't get his actual mock, so his top 5 big board is the best I could do here).
Todd McShay
(Again, could not get a recent full mock draft from him either, so I got the next best thing in Scout Inc's Top 32)
ADDITION: Compliments of smileyman, he has provided the top 5 Free Agent Quarterbacks and given a synopsis of each. Each week we will add a piece in regards to a specific position or positions of certain players that will be available as free agents or entering the draft followed by a short synonpsis.
QB Free Agents
Kyle Orton
Age: 27
Years in the League: 5th season Salary: $1.3 million Stats: 1257 attempts, 719 completions (57.2%). 7766 yards. 42 TDS, 33 INTs. Status: UFA (RFA if there is no new CBA) Summary: An average QB who was having his best year of his season with Denver before he got hurt. He can be successful in the right system, but isn't worth paying top dollar for.
Jason Campbell
Age: 27
Years in the leauge: 5th season Salary: $1,240,400 Stats: 1421 attempts, 861 completions (61.0%). 9368 yards. 45 tds 32 INTs. Status: UFA (RFA in an uncapped year) Summary: Average QB. If the Redskins don't extend his contract there will be a team somewhere that will want him. Not a long-term answer for any team
Chad Pennington
Age: 33
Years in the league: 10th season Salary: $5,750,000 Stats: 2461 attempts, 1631 completion (66.1%). 17,804 yards. 102 TDs, 64 INTs. Status: UFA Summary: Some team will want to take a look at Chad. He hurt his shoulder again this season, but he wants to come back and play. He's not a long term answer for any team, but he can do a good job for someone for a couple of years until they find a solution at QB. I imagine that he'll have to take a pay cut--not many teams will want to pay almost $6 million/year for a QB that's not their long term solution.
Tarvaris Jackson
Age: 26
Years in the league: 4th season Salary: $686,120 Stats: 539 attempts, 316 completions (58.6%). 3601 yards, 21 TDs, 18 INT. Status: UFA (RFA if uncapped year) Summary: Jackson is a project QB. I thought he improved signficantly at the end of last season. He's got a lot of athleticisim (when I saw him play he actually reminded me of the VY, Michael VIck type of QB). Somebody will take a look at him, but not for much more than what he's currently makinhg.
Kellen Clemens
Age: 26
Years in the league: 4th season Salary: $530,000 Stats: 256 attempts, 133 completions (52%). 1,555 yards. 5 TDs, 11 INTs Status: UFA (RFA if uncapped year) Summary: I'll be surprised if Clemens isn't cut by the Jets next year. Sanchez is clearly the guy going forward and the number 3 guy on the depth chart (Erik Ainge) gave Clemens some fierce competition for the number 2 spot.
Here's how I'd rank them:
1. Chad Pennington
2. Kyle Orton
3. Tarvaris Jackson
4. Jason Campbell
5. Kellen Clemens
Chad Pennington will be starting somewhere in 2010. The Dolphins won't need his services but there many teams in desperate need of a QB who will pick him up for a 1 or 2 year contract. I'll be surprised if Denver doesn't resign Kyle Orton. Their depth at QB is horrid. I'll be they take a QB in the 1st or 2nd round of the draft and sit him behind Orton for a couple of years to develop him. Jackson will get a chance to compete for a job as well Campbell. Clemens will probably be picked up by a team looking for a backup but won't get a chance to start.
Big thanks to smileyman for the contribution!

I voted other, it's a matter of placement and who has come off the board
If Berry is there and Suh is not, I am all for Berry, No Mays and no QB. If none of these players are here, Joe Haden
"Optimist Prime"
Haden and Berry 1st round?

I went with OT first. There are 5 good OTs and I am sure that either Williams or Bulaga would be there for us in the 1st pick
Drew K. Thanks for a great job. It is funny how those three rank people differently. the first one actually has both our 1st round picks to be after Denver.
I am going to ASSuME that neither Berry or Okung make it to our picks.
1a. Williams – OT or Bulaga – OT
1b. Kindle – OLB or Spiller – RB or Weatherspoon – OLB

I don't think Kindle is worth a 1st rounder
at least not as high in the 1st round as we’re likely to end.

A question about Taylor Mays
I heard on ESPN that Mays will probably get moved to ILB in the NFL. Is that what you guys have been hearing as well?
Hey, remember that one time when we were arguing and I was wrong? Yeah, me either.
by SanFranSoldier on Nov 28, 2009 10:44 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
I would think someone with Mays’ athleticism would make a good outside linebacker rather than inside just because he would have good coverage skills to go along with his defensive instincts (note: the coverage skills im referring to is if he is moved to LB, his coverage as a safety leaves much to be desired)

Like rlott says he won't work in a 3-4
You need someone who can get to the QB and the only way I see Mays being able to do that is with a designed blitz.

QB – 1.Jimmy Clausen 2. Jake Locker 3. Ryan Mallet 4. Sam Bradford 5. Jevan Snead/PatDevlin
RB – 1. Noel Devine 2. Joe McKnight 3. C.J Spiller 4. Jahvid Best 5. Travis Minor/Toby Gerhart
WR – 1. Dez Bryant 2. Arrelious Benn 3. Marshawn Gilyard 4. Brandon LaFell 5. Mike Williams
TE – (Andrew Quarless from PSU will definitely wove up the ranks after the combine)

Coming strictly as somebody who hasn’t watched him play, his stats don’t lay out a very compelling case for him. Even considering surrounding talent and level of competition.
What about his scouting makes him such a hot ticket?
I don't know about that, to the groin.
by howtheyscored on Nov 28, 2009 11:41 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
His team is terrible. His incompletions are usually dropped passes. His interceptions go through his recievers hands. His o-line is even worse.
When you watch him play he is clear first round material.
He would destroy all competition if he were on a team like Texas or Florida. No one would doubt he’d be first overall. Like McCoy, his statistics reflect the team he’s on more than his individual play.

He has NFL QB written all over him
Throws a beautiful ball. Good size, good speed, good footwork and mechanics. Doesn’t have a cannon but Jemarcus Russell does, enough said there. His arm I would say is above average and coming into this year the thing he had the most trouble with was putting touch intermediate balls but that looks like something he’s addressed. He looked outstanding against SC.
Gimme 1 round!

Its been his play this year in big games.
vs U$C and ND
he has an above average arm.. accuracy is okay..mobile..looked very composed under pressure
My NFL comparison of Locker is Matt Cassel. Clausen is Aaron Rodgers.

Is this the order you think they'll go in?
I like Devine a lot. He’s fast and shifty but he won’t be able to be an every down back in the NFL. He could be a great return specialist and an awesome change of speed back to complement Gore but he’s not gonna be a high pick.

I'd be interested in the WR class...
If Golden Tate or Jordan Shipley manage to fall to the third or fourth rounds, I think San Francisco would be stupid not to go and grab one of them.

Golden Tate isn’t dropping past 2nd round. Shipley might be the returner. But honestly, I like Dezmon Briscoe and Demaryius Thomas more and they might be their in the 3rd/4th rds.

I keep forgetting about him
because he isn’t getting a ton of attention. I will put him up next week for sure. Thats the guy thats built like Anquan Boldin or Andre Johnson, right? He isn’t ranked high on any of the pro scouts boards.
I wonder if because he isn’t getting the notorioty he deserves that we could steal him in the 3rd or so? I agree alot on this guy, if we could get him…I would not care if we said good-bye to Battle. Keep Zeigler on the practice squad…he’s shown some promise here and there.
by Drew K on Nov 28, 2009 1:54 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah the running team is hurting his scouting but that's why I think he may not enter the draft.
If he does, he is more of an Andre Johnson type, plus we could then leave Morgan to KR/PR duties and not use a pick on one and try o acquire one in UDFA. I think he can be a beast, hands look good and so do his routes and at that size, he’d be a WR I’d add.

He's a big kid
Just looked at some of his highlights. Looks like he’s got some good hands and decent moves. Not a really fast guy, but sure handed. I wouldn’t be opposed to getting him in the later rounds if he was available, but we’re already heavy at the WR position. I’m not sure what he would bring to the table that we don’t have between Morgan, Jones, Hill and Crabtree.
by smileyman on Nov 28, 2009 9:03 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Just think though
If he did turn out like a Johnson or Boldin type player… That would be nice: Crabtree, Thomas, and Morgan and Hill sharing the slot and then them primarily in a 4-Wide set. Jones backing all of them up.

<strong>Frank Gore has been very good this year, and is stronger than ever, but has again missed time. Glen Coffee, Gore’s backup, is not confident in getting to the second level. The 49ers have struggled to convert in short yardage and 8 man front scenerios. I think that the 49ers would like to draft another running back, a running back with lower body strength. We’re more likely to watch them draft a back in the middle rounds, because there are too many needs to deal with early on, as has been nit picked. Just FYI,
Allen Bradford, 4th year junior at USC. Missed majority of ’’07 and ’08 seasons due to hip injuries, but is having his best year this season, and has relativley few carries as a result. Looks like LenDale White on film, but is healthier than LenDale and has an extra gear that LenDale did not have. Might return for 5th year, however, he is an interesting player
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZk8bv_Pizw
Jonathon Dwyer, junior at Georgia Tech. From what I’ve watched of him, strong build and deceptive speed. Could go high in draft, but could slip depending on 40 yard time, combine; much like Shonn Greene last year.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBy-kfoYIHw
Charles Scottsenior at LSU. Does not have top line speed(~4.60?), but he does have some burst and the capability to bull his way to the linebackers. Good for 3-4 yards every down. Production is down as a senior, and could cause him to slip to middle rounds of draft.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROrIY31e7yE
*Stafon Johnson, senior at USC. I don’t know what his status is, but before he unfortunately dropped a 220 some pound bench bar on his throat (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2009/09/usc-stafon-johnson-weightlifting-accident.html) , he was the trojans most dependable running back in short yardage situations.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDDWx-2P0R0
Offensive line might be the position most in need of a gutting, on a team that needs much refurbishing. If the 49ers were to find themselves in the enviable position of drafting perhaps the drafts top offensive player again outside of the top 7, they should take Russell Okung. If not, I would have no qualms with taking the next best available OT at a reasonable spot (15-23) with pick 1b; and/or in the second round.
I do think that there are a handful of skill players that are worth taking over good prospects like Trent Williams, Brian Bulaga and Ciron Black with 1a; I might eat my words if Bruce Campbell of Maryland makes himself draft eligible. Eric Berry, Earl Thomas, Joe Haden, Ndamukong Suh, and Gerald McCoy come to mind. And, I have made it known that I do think that Sam Bradford will be a good NFL QB, but more on that later. Even Taylor Mays, whose pass coverage is not the absolute wreck one foreign observer might believe it to be, still deserves my interest. Anyone who can run a sub 4.4 at 235 lbs, jump 40 inches and put up 225lbs 30+ times is going to turn heads; and intimidate offensive players.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26rLxHZpiKQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LRc-6cN1Ck
The team is going to need another cornerback, particularly one who can play good run coverage. Since Nate Clements has been hurt, opponents have been targeting the the corners with end arounds, screens, sweeps, etc. Joe Haden of Florida and Syd’Quan Thompson of Cal are two players who, despite their heigth, have been standout tacklers; though Haden is the faster of the two. I think SQT is about a 4.5 (maybe 4.45) guy, so maybe the 2nd or third round is likely.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzLHL7Kz1ck
If the front office is going to use a draft selection on a QB, they need to do so knowing that he is ‘the man.’ The staff would sees Shaun Hill as a backup, and, IMO, Alex Smith can be a backup in this league, and good one at that. They used a 5th round pick on Nate Davis, and there is no telling how that will turn out; they will not start Davis for the sake of development.
Just for fun, a couple of players that have stood out this college season,
Damien Williams, 4th year junior at USC. To me, he is a lot like Wes Chamberlin used to be for the Chargers, when they had Dan Fouts. Faster than he looks, stronger than he looks, and knows how to sell a defensive back like Jerry Rice used to. I remember watching Mitch Mustain HS highlights a few years ago, and asking myself, “who is this reciever?”I don’t think that the 49ers would take a reciever early in the draft, but if they surprise me, it will be a pleasant surprise.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbrgvxl—o8
Colt McCoy, senior QB at Texas. And, as a result of this, Jordon Shipley as well. Neither of them are physical marvels, and, in fact, you find reasons to try and not like them, but by the end of the game, you come away thoroughly impressed.
Javier Arenas, senior CB at Alabama. Strong player with good speed; has been a big part of Alabama’s success and can return kicks! Who doesn’t like that?

Charles Scott
I don’t think he has what it takes to be an even average back in the NFL. That offensive line at LSU is beastly and opens holes that deisels could drive through. Scott is a north and south runner; a north and south runner in the NFL typically has speed to go with it. I think Scott will be released by whatever team drafts him.
We still do not know what we have in Ray Lewis’ little brother that we signed to our practice squad. I am curious to see what he does in the preseason of next year. He’s a big back like what you are suggesting.
Personally, as far as the RB position is concerned, I believe we need a quick shifty, change-of-pace type of back in there. Gore is a power runner and so is Coffee. M-Rob needs to not be on the depth chart as a RB. We need to figure something else out for him on the roster to keep him on special teams.
by Drew K on Nov 28, 2009 3:36 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Re: LSU’s offensive line, that is interesting. There have been some big county boys on that line creating damage. Herman Johnson comes to mind.
I suppose what I should have highlighted is their need to drive defensive lineman backwards in short yardage scenarios. By doing so, their will be holes to run through.
by MinerNiner on Nov 28, 2009 3:57 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree, a strong but fast and shifty RB would be a positive change from Gore
One that knows how to block.
Ray Lewis’ brother is KEON LATTIMORE. Here is a link to his senior highlights. He makes pretty good moves and mostly runs towards the outside. I would like to see a bit more power in his legs.

you just said Chris Johnson like so I was thinking track speed in my head. I didn’t remember him being super fast so I clicked on the link you put up and was like “oh”. He is fast, I just was thinking SUPER fast when I recalled him on youtube. But against LSU last week for a smaller guy, he was a beast. Plus he has hands too, he could line up in the slot or wherever.
There’s a couple of sleepers to consider for the later rounds. I thin this is the most talent stacked the draft has been in a while.

Jahvid Best
you really think the odds are against him to fall into the 2nd round?
by sundaysfinest on Nov 28, 2009 5:09 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Because of such a talent stacked draft it's quite possible
If teams know they can hold off until the second round to get a quality RB for less because of that factor (talent stacked draft), then why not? I bet there is not more than 2 RB’s picked in the 1st. C.J. Spiller will more than likely be the 1st one to go… and I feel Royster and Dwyer are more “bust-proof” than Best. He’s too much like Reggie Bush.
by Drew K on Nov 28, 2009 5:13 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Nonsense
Best. He’s too much like Reggie Bush
The only issue for Jahvid is staying healthy.

have you seen him play an entire game?
by Drew K on Nov 29, 2009 7:10 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Ofcourse,
and I resent the the question, even if it’s entirely sarcastic. I’m a Cal Bears fan and I have been for a long long time. Bush is probably a more talented receiver than Best will ever be and Best is by far a superior runner between the tackles. Just because they are both fast, both play the same position and both play(ed) in the pac-10 doesn’t make one just like the other.
Chris Cohan- YOU'RE FIRED!
by bonbrillio on Nov 29, 2009 8:11 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
No way
Best = Bust… I am not being sarcastic and I am not trying to offend anyone… but I have looked at the videos side-by-side and really taken a hard look at Best. I have watched a couple Bears games this year as well as last and looks very much like Reggie Bush. I watched alot of Bush as well in college…too many similairities. This is coming from someone that is looking at things from a non-bias stand. In fact, Cal is probably my favorite Pac10 team…its a toss up between them and ASU.
I believe that the order I have those backs in will be very close to how they go in the draft. Dwyer and Royster could possibly switch but thats really all I can see changing there.
by Drew K on Nov 30, 2009 12:42 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Also
Just about the same size (Reggie’s an inch taller) and their stats the in their best year are just about the same (Reggie’s were a bit better). The running styles are so similiar its scary… They both return kicks, etc. Reggie Bush in college DID run between the tackles (actually alot) …I am not far off in the comparison and some of the experts themselves have compared the two backs.
by Drew K on Nov 30, 2009 12:49 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
The more I look at the potential draft order, it is! Jacksonville could draft Best, as could Seattle, Cincinnati, and San Diego. He goes early in the second if he falls.

A little help here...
1. Cleveland Browns – Colt McCoy (another QB fail in Cleveland)
2. St. Louis Rams – Jake Locker(this can actually be promising for the Rams)
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Ndamukong Suh(Stud)
4. Detroit Lions – Trent Williams(protecting last years #1 is important)
5. Seattle Seahawks – Jimmy Clausen(time for Hasselbeck to teach before he’s done)
6. Washington Redskins – Sam Bradford(Campbell isn’t the answer)
7. Buffalo Bills – Gerald McCoy(good line filler for a D in need of a run stopper)
8. Oakland Raiders – Taylor Mays(unless some WR amazes Al Davis)
9. Kansas City Chiefs – Eric Berry(BPA?)
10. Denver Broncos (from Chicago) – Terrence Cody(Good fit for revamped D)
11. San Francisco 49ers – Russel Okung(finally some protection!)
12. New York Jets – Dez Bryant(good fit alongside Baylon Edwards)
13. San Francisco 49ers (from Carolina) –?
OK, I need some guidance, I’ve been staring at my screen for about 10 min. thinking about who the niners should take with the second pick. They got the OT that they needed, now where do they from there(besides the playoffs!)
I mean would it make sense to draft 2 OT’s in the 1st round. Earlier in the year, I really considered a DT, but I think that Franklin is doing awesome, so they should simply re-sign him. The 2 top safeties are gone, should they go after Earl Thomas(i don’t like that idea because he’s only a sophomore, he should return for his Junior year), or should they go DE, and if so, who.
If none of the above, then what….seriously I need some assistance with this……..

Before the season, the Browns were one of the teams interested in trading for Jay Cutler; and the Broncos were asking for two first round picks. If that is not what you were reffering to, then I am mistaken.
However, in the past, the Browns front office has made no public statement of confidence in Brady Quinn. It is possible that they stick with him, but they will have their ’T’s’ crossed and their ’I’s" dotted, and keep looking at other QBs, because their offense has been awful.

1) Cleveland – Jimmy Clausen
2) St. Louis – Jake Locker (I don’t know how he is projected so high. I think that Locker will stay in college. If so, I think they go for value and take Suh, even though they’ve drafted 3 straight lineman)
3) Tampa Bay – Ndamukong Suh (Best player available)
4) Detroit – Russell Okung (Need to protect Stafford. Berry a possibility)
5) Seattle – Eric Berry (Best player and a postion of need)
6) Washington – Gerald McCoy (To help shore up NFL’s 25th ranked run defense. I like the Bradford pick; that could happen)
7) Buffalo – Rolando McClain (Might be early for Dez Bryant and Sam Bradford. Run defense is 31st in league)
8) Oakland – Carlos Dunlap
9) Kansas City – Joe Haden (28th ranked pass defense could use some youth. Derrick Morgan a possibility)
10) Denver – Terrance Cody
11) San Francisco – Sam Bradford (could be wrong, but everyone else I like has been drafted)
12) NYJ – Dez Bryant
13) Bruce Campbell

I wouldn’t want a QB with a career comp % of 55% or whatever it is. But some teams actually like his playmaking abilities. He will end up somewhere starting if Philly drops him. Too many teams need QB’s

and I could easily see that as an option as well. I don’t think the Browns would go there (with the Dawg Pound and all). But there’s a few candidates.
1. Bills
2. Raiders
3. Jags
4. Redskins
5. Rams
The thing about Vick versus getting a rookie, is you already know what you get in Vick and he is a veteran. Someone’s gonna snatch him up. I am sure of it. And I don’t think he will be backing anyone up again. He’s got 4-5 years left in him. From what little bit we have seen in his passing, he looks to be more acurate

No,
the 49ers would not have a second, nor Lawson. They traded them both away to the Pats. The 49ers had better have somebody in mind at OLB if they make that trade, which the Patriots would not take in the first place. If the Pats want an OLB, they will draft him; not trade away (their 1st rounder) for a player who has yet to deliver.

Lawson has been very good at containing the run this year. But, he gets stuck when a lineman locks onto him. Unless he gets better, he’ll be gone one way or another. Ahmad Brooks is a guy to keep around.

If they do trade Lawson
it should be with the knowledge they will aquire another OLB whom they believe will be a starter. Right now, they do not have that ability.

Toby Gerhardt, hopefully he’s there.
1st rd picks are going to go to the BPA’s at OL, then DL/pass-rush, tho I’d really like to see Taylor Mays in the red and gold next year.

Backup RB
Change of pace w/ Gore. As for Mays, SS if Michael Lewis is still having concussions, if not, open competition for either I’d say.
I wasn’t aware of Gerhardt’s status as a junior… I’d imagine he’d stick around, but if he’s seriously in the Heisman hunt, his stock may be higher than a 3rd rd pick and possibly won’t get any higher if he stayed for next year.

It also says nothing abotu FA which has a lot to do with how you draft. Who’s to say we don’t get a veteran RT and LG? If we did that in the offseason and got these two what would you say? You’d probably trade the pick that got Cody to get a player we don’t NEED,

Yep and that's why I feel they are "symbiotic"
Until after FA period is “over” you really can’t start showing a mock without noting the assumed FA moves, even if they are none. Not knocking the mock or you, plenty other than that Mock do that (heck I’ve done it many a time LOL). Just a personal bias and something for us all to keep in mind (IMHO).

I wouldn’t kick him off of the team, but I can’t picture the 49ers drafting Cody after the season that Aubrayo Franklin is having. I do envision the 49ers drafting an OT with one of their first rounders, even if it is perceived to be a reach.

i'm suprised more people haven't been talking about picking up another corner.
some people are talking how Nate Clements might not get an extension, some people want him to get one. i think i’m ok with it given the price is right.
i think we have learned that without him our run D has suffered, without him our pass coverage has suffered also.
depending on how we plan on addressing this i think we should have a corner high on our list maybe 3rd latest or our eye on a FA, given that we are not going to extend his contract.
unless we get berry, people say he can play corner. and i would be ok with that.

Not without a proven player with a 2nd in return
I can’t imagine they have a veteran RT or LG young enough to justify it, they stink so bad. If one of the teams were in the situation like the Lions last year this would be perfect for us. We could still get a RT and we can add a corner or ILB or DE

4. Lions (2-9) – Russel Okung, OT

6. Chiefs (3-8) – Eric Berry, SS
7. Raiders (3-8) – Taylor Mays, FS
8. 49ers from Panthers (4-7) – Joe Haden, CB
Wow, this is a really high pick. Bruce Campbell has durability concerns and is more of a left tackle. Brian Buluga really fits our needs in terms of a right tackle and should still be around later. We can get a dynamite Corner or pass rusher here. This draft has a lot of depth at corner, so I think we take a pass rusher. However, there are no 3-4 OLB here worth this pick. Joe Haden it is then. but don’t be surprised if we trade this pick down to somone looking for a LT or sam bradford. I don’t think we will get a QB because what we have is servicable, and we have too many other needs.
9. Broncos from Bears (4-7) – Derick Morgan, DE
10. Seahawks (4-7) – Trent Williams, OT
11. Bills (4-7) – Sam Bradford, QB
12. Dolphins (5-6) – Terrence Cody, NT (we don’t take him because we franchised Aubrayo Franklin)
13. Jets (5-6) – Damian Williams, WR
14. 49ers (5-6) – Brian Buluga, OT
Now we address the single biggest problem on our offense. Buluga is a monster in both protection and run blocking.
15. Texans (5-6) – Earl Thomas, FS
16. Titans (5-6) – Dez Bryant, WR
17. Jaguars (6-5) – Jerry Hughes, OLB
18. Giants (6-5) – Rolando McClain, ILB
19. Steelers (6-5) – Bruce Campbell, OT
20. Falcons (6-5) – Trevard Lindley, CB
21. Ravens (6-5) – Brandon LaFell, WR
